Bollocks - you could come along a chief food purchaser.

Still remember us standing by Obi's stranded Europa after Scotty and I had spent 2 hours with the plod, realising we had missed lunch for you to then produce fresh water monster prawns, wash them in the nearby waterfall and provide us with those bread, and a roast chicken!

Better to be in amongst it having a laugh that missing it entirely :cheers

Should really try to get booked in before Joe Public nicks the slot.

Would like to do this Campbell but I cannot commit right now, to much going on.

Fully understand, Kenny. A place may still be there nearer the time, you never know!

Hang in there.

Was it this one Andy? If so did you know what had been done to the chicken before you ate it?

Right, back to top.

The Walshy Day is all set for Friday 14th Aug for me, Ferg, Les and Mark (Dark).

So other than me, who is NOT doing Zandvoort, and therefore will be crossing into France from Friday evening onwards? Starting to look at Le Shuttle timings and route ideas for the French leg south.

Those at Zandy...what are your plans for Saturday drive south (I presume the event is Friday?).

Campbell,

I think we were planning on driving a few hours south on the Friday night after Zandy to Luxembourg, then travelling down to Orange on the Saturday.

Will you have a passenger for the trip Campbell?

Lesley and I are currently planning to travel South on the Friday with a stop off in Milton Keynes for a spot of indoor skydiving.

After that I was hoping to cross the channel and meet up with the Zandy lot wherever they are, Luxenbourg sounds good, never been there.

Cheers,

Kenny

I don't think there's a somewhere chosen yet Campbell. The plan was to drive for a few hours on Friday evening after Zandy to get us round about Luxembourg. Then drive to Orange on Saturday so we've got a free day on Sunday.

What's the plan for digs in Orange on the Sat night?

If you'd like me to look in to a block booking in Luxembourg for the Friday night list your name(s) room type (double or single) and budget and I'll see what I can find.
Main priority would be a bar and free secure parking.

1. Kenny & Lesley, double, £50-£100

How about Metz? IBIS at Cathedral from £40 per room per night.

No idea about parking, but looks cultural ;-)

So, is the thinking to simply blast south on autoroutes after Lux / Metz / wherever, right to Orange? 6-7 hrs.

I am making it my mission to take in at least part of the Route Napoleon on the trip somewhere. And Gorges du Verdon too, on Scotty's recommendation (would you believe Lisa and I were within just a few miles of there en route to meeting the original Stelvio 1999 crew at St Andre Les Alpes...if only we'd known...).

Probably makes sense to try this on the way out rather than way back, since the journey home requires the slog all the way back up through UK too.

The following would fit in Route Napoleon running south. Uses some of the Stelvio 1999 route from Besancon...

But to make this work, I think Saturday would have to be Lux / Metz to Geneva area - about 5-6 hrs driving. Hotel ibis Saint Genis Pouilly Genève would do the trick.

Then the rest to Orange on the Sunday. Again, 5 or 6 hrs - including some of Route Napoleon.

Gorges du Verdon is presumably a realistic "day out" from Orange, as some kind of loop. This, perhaps, which includes another wee slice of the RN...

(albeit that's quite a day out for a rest day!!)

Slightly shorter version, with very little of the RN but still a grand day out...

As for coming home.

8.5 hrs straight from Orange to Eurotunnel Calais on the Saturday. After Le Shuttle, pile round the M25 the same evening to enable Le Mans Style Start for home on Sunday. 6.5 hrs back to Central Scotland, all being well.

Campbell I like the sound of that. Ibis Metz then onto some nice roads to Geneva then to orange on Sunday would make an awesome trip. I won't have time to do the passes on the way home so on the way out makes perfect sense.

Count me in for that. [THUMBS UP SIGN]

Campbell,

I like your route on the way down and it would be good to meet up with you for the drive down to Orange after we have been to Zandy on the Friday.

This is starting to come together very nicely :thumbsup

Thursday 13th Aberdeen - MMC - Newcastle - Ferry to Amsterdam.

Friday 14th Arrive Amsterdam - Zandy circuit - Travel south to Luxembourg/Metz area and meet Campbell (on the Friday night or Saturday morning). To be discussed further. https://www.google.co.uk/maps/dir/Circu ... bba669!3e0 (this may be too long a drive after spending the day at Zandy)

Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th (Campbell route south)
https://goo.gl/maps/lBHQ2
