Knockhill Corner Names

Post by C7Steve » Thu May 28, 2015 9:04 am

Gents,

What are the commonly used names for the corners at Knockhill?

Is this correct?

Main Straight/Pit Lane
1. Duffus
2. Leslies???
3. McIntyres
4. Butchers
5/6. Chicane
Has this short straight got a name, or is it just known as the straight after the chicane etc???
7. Clarks
8. What is this corner called and is it known as the 'back straight too'?
9. Hairpin
Main straight/Pit Lane

TIA,

Steve.

Mike,

I have seen the second corner marked as Seat Curves on a couple of layouts.

Does anyone refer to the last bend as Taylors? I have only heard it described as the Hairpin.

Even KH still refer to it as the Hairpin, and so do all of us.

On some TV commentaries I have heard "Taylors Hairpin".

A few years ago they seemed to sell themselves out, with quite a few corners being re-named, "Glenvarigal Chicance, Seat Curves etc". I think everyone just kept using the old names.

Oh, and, I may be wrong here, but was "Leslies" named in memory of David Leslie?

Taylor's is it's old original name but I guess over time it's just easier to call it what it is. Seat curves is one of the new corporate sponsor names and you are forthwith banned from ever uttering them ever again Steven!. if you use the new names the circuit looks like this:

Main Straight/Pit Lane
1. Duffus (Seat Curves)
2. Leslies??? ( think this may be one of the new corporate corner names)
3. McIntyres (Scotsman Corner)
4. Butchers
5. Chicane (John R Weir Chicane or Arnold Clark Chicane don't know which is the current sponsor)
6. Brahbams (the short straight)
7. Clarks
8. Railway Bend (Hislop's)
9. Taylors (Real Radio Hairpin)
Main straight/Pit Lane
Elise S2 260
BMW M2 Comp
RRS HST
BMW R1300GS

So what do you call the second corner then? Bottom of Duffus, Duffus Dip, Seat Curves, or Leslies?

As long as I don't spin off at the Seat Curves and I find out what the second corner is commonly referred to, then I won't use it again. Only if you promise to call the last bend the Hairpin and not Taylors. :blackeye :D

All part of Duffus as far as I am concerned. Others might have a different opinion but to me it's all Duffus dip.
