Re: Pedal box work
Can't see how you would unless you managed to get the brake pedal to fall off? Thought P&L only came in if you got the car recovered after a breakdown and used the insurance to repair the cause of breakdown.

Re: Pedal box work
Good luck - from what I have heard, P&L is increasingly difficult to get anything out of.

Became more bother than it was worth- calling them out, getting recovered and then they knocked back claims anyway.

Re: Pedal box work
Its not difficult to get claims authorised if you know how to deal with them. From my experience in the past MMC don't seem to be particularly good at saying the right things to get claims authorised. I have never had a claim knocked back in the past 8 years.

Re: Pedal box work
Thinking of ditching them, especially P&L. The last two claims were refused whereas they would have paid with no problem a while back. Both genuine, the last one was no ABS and VSA, AA called out and he followed me the few miles to John Duthie. When he called in to report that the ABS power pump had failed, they said it was not covered as the car was still drivable and they only covered non drivable breakdowns.
I called them myself with the same result, so they can say goodbye to last years £368 renewal for this year, and that was negotiated down from £450. Will just go with one of the others for straight breakdown cover.

Re: Pedal box work
They paid out on a new turbo on my disco and previously when Craig used slightly clever language when I still had the Elise. The question I've put to the aa guy when he came to look was "is it SAFE to drive?" not whether it's drivable. Most of these companies aren't willing to put their public indemnity on the line by definitively saying something is safe to drive. Interestingly I always understood it as a problem which was "unrepairable by the roadside team". The disco was drivable, didn't need recovered to taggarts (never again!) but as there was an "engine management fault" that was unrepairable by roadside assist they paid

A good friend of a good friend has in the past few years set up as a Jag & Landrover independent specialist - Former Taggarts mechanic. I can get you contact details for future ref if you wish?vet111s wrote: The disco was drivable, didn't need recovered to taggarts (never again!) but as there was an "engine management fault" that was unrepairable by roadside assist they paid

I cancelled due to lack of use
Got similar cover from the RAC (breakdown only) via Tesco Clubcard which doubled or tripled in value for no real money.
