Newbie In Ayrshire
Re: Newbie In Ayrshire
Yeah, that would be great....I'll look out for your S1 (what colour is it?)
As far as Dundonald goes......we started at the Casino, then went on to the lapdancing club, then finished up at the dancing.......
Ok, what actually happened was that we all met at Dundonald, jumped a minibus to Pitlochry and went quad biking then white water rafting....then back to the pub in Dundonald for food and an evenings drinking! Can't even remember the name of the pub, but it was OK inside and the food was great.
The Alitalia coloured car is my brothers...another one that get's well used!

Re: Newbie In Ayrshire
Were either yours or your brother's at the Scottish Italian Car Day in Fife a couple of weeks back?
There were 6 Stratos (Stratii?) there

Re: Newbie In Ayrshire
I've a Titanium sport 160, but you'll not see it on the road for a few weeks at least. Need to get my finger out and get a few bits fixed.
Re: Newbie In Ayrshire
No, I had planned to go to the Italian day, but the wee fella wasn't too well so I never made it. Glad to hear there were a few there though.
Nice car...Titanium Sport 160. Is it major work or just refreshing items? I'll keep an eye out for it. Good to know there is someone local that I can bounce some ideas off once I get started....

Re: Newbie In Ayrshire
Nothing too major; clutch master cylinder, gear cables & bell crank & rear dampers mostly. I've taken most bits off at one time or another, so feel free to give me a shout.
Re: Newbie In Ayrshire
Cheers woody...that's a very generous offer which I'm sure I'll be taking you up on
. I think taking bits off might feature quite strongly in the first few weeks, however the first thing I'd like to do is give it a once over and get it running right. Hopefully it will be with me this week. It's been collected from my friends in Ireland and I'm just waiting on it coming over on the boat with another car.

That would be great.....and right on my door step. I recognise Dave's name from the GT40 forum. I don't recall seeing his car, but to be honest I don't do a lot of shows etc (apart from a crowd of us who go to Stoneleigh every year), I tend to just do more driving when I get the chance. Thanks for the offer of looking over your car, that might be really helpful.

Fixed that for youwoody wrote:I've a Titanium sport 160, but you'll not see it on the road for a few years at least. Need to get my finger out and get all the bits I previously fixed working again.

Re: Newbie In Ayrshire
I have only ever seen it once at work, interesting bit of kit.

Just give me a shout anytime you want a look. Hopefully you will get yours up and running to catch what's left of the summer if we can call it that!

Re: Newbie In Ayrshire
Think with being the 111s it has the dual coil pack. Spark plugs, HT leads and coil pack check I suppose? As I said earlier I have no mechanical knowledge however hahawoody wrote:![]()
Also in Ayrshire, also have an S1.
The cylinder issue sounds like it may be HT/dizzy cap related.

Re: Newbie In Ayrshire
The 111s was fitted with a misfire detection unit. What it might be experiencing is it going into limp mode due to the misfire detection unit kicking in. It will flash orange light on the dash when it detects misfire and then constantly goes on and sounds like it's running on two, you then need to restart the engine and it might go away until misfires are detected again. As woody suggested might be something pretty simple like the spark plugs, leads or coil pack. Could also be related to a number of other things like lamda sensor, leaky manifold gaskets and so on.......marcoos_1 wrote:Cheers...hopefully you'll get the chance. They're both up and running and get driven as often as I can. The Stratos just did a hard 950miles over the bank holiday weekend and never missed a beat.....been a great wee car to be honest.
Can't wait for the S1 111 project to arrive......been researching all sorts of different ideas, contacts and bits and pieces for what I might be doing with it. I've bought the car blind from a friend....so really need a good look over it...no doubt a few horrors lurking. I know it's been a good car for him though and he's had it from about 2000miles.
I know it has a strange engine issue whereby at 4000rpm he says it drops to 2 cylinders and wont come back to normal until the ignition is switched off and back on again? I'll post this up in another thread though...
