As a heads up, I was black flagged at Donnington last week for noise

It was a bookatrack evening session on national circuit so using the chicane with 98db drive by limit, no static testing. I was clocked at 98.8db on start finish straight.

A very kind marshal told me to stick my head under the bonnet for 5minutes and look busy then short shift the rest of the night and I'd be fine. If anyone asked, "my air box lid was open a little so I clipped it shut, that must have caused the extra noise"

Initially I was in 3rd through the chicane, pulling 4th on the exit kerb then 5th across the start line, ended up using 4th through the chicane and pulling 5th about 6500rpm at pit lane entry with no problem.

Car is S2 Exige S with stage 3 exhaust and TRD box, the next day at Oulton the static test was exactly 98db at 6000 RPM.

If you think you might be borderline it's a good idea to short shift early in the day to avoid the black flag shame!

Essential for me in old N3, blacked every time and thought that it was exhaust, even fitted a new one from Geary at the Lotus Show many years ago, but it turned out the be air inlet.

First thing is to have the position of the meters pointed out to you then short shift if you have a problem. I think I was banned the last time that I was there as I was so hacked off after the last flag that I went around and did another three laps.

However with a white car they may not recognise me.

ps:- could not hear the whistle from the induction due to the huge jets that were flying over the top of me.

Tut, You're infamous - you'd need to wear a Burka (and shoes) to avoid being recognised

Kenny -
Last time i was at Donnington, my car was 94db static (static test @ Oulton / old exhaust)
Now its 98db at 5,000 rpm static. I got tested at Croft in July.
Exhaust is a racing manifold, larini sports cat & 2bular back box.
quite noisy...... :D
Just hope it will be Ok - I'll do what you say & shut off.
I know where the 2 mics are on the track
