My gf used to live in the black isle and i was often crossing the kessock bridge after midnight......so few cars on the road at that time of day and such a bad drink driving problem in the highlands that they just stopped everyone.
IRRC i was in a body-kitted Fiat Tipo so they probably wanted a good look at my f*cking awesome car.

Apparently the control room operator who took the (non emergency) call did not log it on the system so never got as far as Police Officers.
Still a shocking error and strengthens the case for local control rooms rather than a call centre.

The statement from Police Scotland was a little defensive. Understandably maybe but insensitive considering the situation. That settlement is going to be a whopper!

David wrote:My son, Gordon, Started a new job this week in Stirling. It's was an early start for him on Sunday and about 8am he was pulled over by the police for no obvious reason other than he's a young lad in a Clio Cup. Now we've spent many hours checking and fixing up the car and it has just passed an MOT so it's in pretty good nick and they were obviously disappointed when every thing checked out OK, but not to be beaten, they insisted the car's exhaust was bowing and gave him a 21 day notice to repair.
Gordon was understandably annoyed by this but nevertheless bowed to authority and went and bought a complete new system, which we fitted today. The thing is, the one we took off was perfect

. What's in it for the Police to behave like this? Why must they harass a young lad who was doing everything right - haven't they got better things to - like catch the gang that stole my trailer, or broke into my wife's flat? No, they just go for the easy targets, which 9 time out of 10 is a honest hard working punter.
Rant over

£50 quid says you don't know 1/2 the story . . . and never will . . .
Another £50 says he was driving like a dick and got caught . . . almost certainly he was not 'doing everything right' . . .
Your trailer getting pinched is in no way related to what your kid did to get stopped . . .
Naive . . .

That's a bit harsh Fergus! Life getting you down?
This is not a dig at the police as a whole. I'm sure they'd do a great job if it wasn't for the public getting in the way. They just have a habit following their own agenda around Stirling. I suspect it is more of a police cultural thing than deliberate poor policing - I just hope this latest incident helps them reflect a little. Gordon's uncle is a police inspector, by the way, so we do have an inside perspective. He thought Gordon's incident was OTT.
[edit] I should add that Gordon was just one of many cars stopped at this 'check point' on Kerse road (30mph limit) that morning. So no driving being assessed, just purely cars and their condition being checked. £50 please . . .
