I've not owned an S1 Exige, I went for the S2 Exige S. However, my advice is just common sense but folk still to flying off at the first corner ...warm your tyres and brakes for a few laps before putting the foot down. I would also stick to about 10 laps at a time max then come in to let your brakes cool down.

Just my 2p.

SIDC also provide an experienced instructor that you can use free of charge throughout the event. Best thing to do is to grab them early on for a few laps to give you some pointers, do some laps on your own to apply in practice what they have told you, and get get another session later on to fine tune things. When your car is in the pit land or paddock cooling down, then hop in with a fellow owner for a few laps as well - it gernally feels much faster as a passenger than a driver though!

Thanks for the tips folks, appreciated :) I'm really just wanting to explore the handling ability of the car so steady laps is a good way to go with plenty of rests and ideally some pax laps ;)

Cheers

I'm in the same boat with the same car so will be interesting to compare notes. :-)

Evoman, perfect environment. My third trackday in the Elise. The change from bridgestones to yoko neovo transformed the progressiveness of the car for me no end. I am in a bog standard 111S welcome to a passenger run, when I remember to stop. 03 plate mag blue Elise.

Now lapping in similar times to the m3 I had before. Totally different beast but the corners... ...Heaven cloudy huggy face emoticon thing inserted here....

It'd be a good lightweight shake down if you've had work done. :-)

That's awesome Ferg, glad to hear there are other first timers - to me this whole mid engined thing is totally new, I know it makes s3nse but oh man it's a different kind of experience, I think less forgiving for ham fisted driving which means I'm going slowly!

:-) Slight misrepresentation maybe. First proper day since getting the Exige, first ended in brake failure. Had an S1 Elise before that. But it's still different enough to take my time, looking forward to stretching its legs :-)
