I had the undertrays off my car earlier. When I took them off, I found this on top of the undertray - pretty much under the engine. Does anyone know where it may have come from?... nothing seems to be hanging off and I can not see anything obvious....

Oh, should add, I know it is basically a nut on a threaded rod, but I have never seen a washer like that! Must be for something specific...

Looks like one of the inserts that are bonded into the fiberglass,

Aha!... following the respray on my front clam last year, there was what sounded like a large nut rolling up and down inside the sill. I don't recall having heard it recently - might it be possible that it has found it's way from the inside the sill to the undertray?

That would be my guess, perhaps cut the head off the bolt of the bottom fixings, and its dropped into the sill.

It's a bighead bonding fastener. They get bonded into the fiberglass. They used to do free samples if you need new ones

I also have some of them on the garage floor. Superb for all manner of rolling about under the car exercises. The mats came with a cross trainer my wife swore she would if it were place in 'my' garage, but as I own a Lotus at least they get used.....which is more that I can say about the cross trainer.
