Heated screen?
Re: Heated screen?
A very intelligent upgrade. Our MINI had one and it was well used with the car not being garaged.
I wouldn't trust anyone other than CMC (or at least a genuine Lotus expert) to organise this.
On S1s at least, the front clam should be slackened and moved away from the base of the screen if the new one is to be bonded correctly. Not a job for the glass technician, IMHO.

Re: Heated screen?
Yeah my Elise is living outside. Craig is going to wire it - he has a windscreen specialist who will fit it.
I'll keep this thread up-dated as and when progress is made

Re: Heated screen?
I had an Evora a screen replaced years ago when car was in at MMC for other things by Autoglass when CMC was in charge. He had to stop them damaging the car and he took the clam off which is required on an Evora to do it right. They would have bodged it otherwise and other posts over on TLF indicate the same. Give to CMC anytime.
The heated screen on the Evoque is a great asset. The heated wheel I thought was a gimmick until drove on a baltic day. Now wonder how you can heat a Evora Sports Racer alloy gear knob! Getting old! Son has a 'willie warmer' on his Type R's which I used to mock. Not now. Stops bad habit of driving one hand on gear stick though.

Re: Heated screen?
Probably me... Running Continentals and loved them last winter, no doubt next month will be change over time once again. It was 5degrees yesterday morning. Hardtop will get put in too. I would love a heated windscreen, but I have to admit the AC / heater does a reasonable job on frosty mornings on the S3.mxvx wrote:Looks like the way forward for you. you getting winter boots on her as well? One chap here did for his s3 Elise, believe he has said the difference is remarkable.
Re: Heated screen?
Just wondered is there any issue on battery size / drainage running a heated screen?
Re: Heated screen?
You'll be after a heated knob too....Sanjoy wrote:Now there's an idea, heated wheel for the 340.....

Time will tell I guess. Not sure what the actual current draw is but the wiring diagram suggests <25AJam_s160 wrote:Just wondered is there any issue on battery size / drainage running a heated screen?

Re: Heated screen?
Well I collected the car from Craig today and they've done a very neat job of fitting the screen. It looks really well made - will report back after the next frost!

Re: Heated screen?
Used it this morning and can confirm it's very effective. Light frost on the outside, condensation on the inside.
Craig fitted it on a timed relay in series with a "normal" relay and had to frigg about a bit with the 2nd hand 106 heated screen switch to make the illumination work but I'm very pleased with the mod.
