Larini or Hanger111 Exhaust

Post by Ryan » Thu Oct 29, 2015 1:18 pm

Recently bought a 111R, toyota powered S2. The standard exhaust is a bit quiet and really like the look of the twin exit pipes.

Anyone any experience with either the Hanger111 http://www.hangar111.com/shop/429-exige ... steel.html
OR
Larini http://www.elise-shop.com/larini-sports ... p-977.html

I notice the Hangar111 sells rear grills to fit whereas cant find a similar thing for the Larini. Surely you could just modify the current hole-less ones?

Just to add fat to the fire, I liked the Lotus stage 2 one!

Hi Ryan, I have a Larini fitted to my S2 but its a K series not Toyota - it goes to Craig Moncrieff on Monday but should have it back by the following weekend if you want a listen at some point. I'm just outside Kintore.

I also have a decat pipe for it but haven't had the chance to try it yet... Supposed to be quite a bit louder.

Ryan. I have an S2 Exige with a 2ubular repack sportbox on the back with a cat pipe which has somehow 'lost' the contents of the cat....not sure how that happened officer....due for an MOT soon so also have a Cat pipe waiting to go on the car either this weekend or the weekend after next. I am in the Bridge of Don so if you want to have a listen then feel free. In tonight and most of the weekend on and off.

Are you familiar with 2ubular..

Locally made here in the NE. Specialises in Lotus and has sold many systems to people on this forum...

Will send you my mobile in a PM. Feel free to call if you want to come and have a listen.

Might even be at The Fennel Sunday as looks like could be a fine day for a quick blast up to the Lecht.

Yea have had a look into the 2bular but they only have the one exhaust for the 111R and I really like the look of the twin exits either side of the number plate. But could be interested in either just poping by on Sunday or even a run.

My 111R has a Larini and I love it. Twin exit but underneath. Not noisy in normal driving but give it the beans and it is great. Once the second valves open up all hell breaks loose. I also fitted a Pipercross induction kit at the same time which was very cheap.

I had a stage 3 on my S2 Exige S and it was a bit too intrusive.

Have fun.

If you go for the twin exit pipes you'll be left with a nice hole in your diffuser - I'm assuming the 111R exhaust exits through the diffuser the same as the S2 Exige? One other thing to think about is you'll have to butcher the (very expensive) heat shield that sits over the back box.

It would be above the diffuser so would not affect that, but Im not sure I want to be cutting the heat shield. This is the exhaust in question

The heatshields part 4 and part 10 shows you where the number plate is so I'm pretty certain you'd have to cut it. Your best option would be to get the rear panel eliminator kit and just take off the heatshield.

Did look into this option and looks like that might be the best way. So with the eliminator kit I would not require any heat shield or a different heat shield?

You'll be fine without the main heat shield. I'd also remove the u-bend heat shield as it'll look daft but you'll need to replace this with heat wrap instead. When I did mine I also used some heat reflective tape on the bottom of the boot floor (probably overkill) and back of the number plate (essential). If you've not got a full length number plate you might want to look at a different eliminator kit to the Hangar111 one. It's the 2bular one I had on mine:
