Toe links
Toe links
I have the uprated elise parts toe links kit on my car. But, the toe links just do not last. I am typically getting two thousand miles out of them. I put a new set on in the spring, have done about 1500 miles in the car and they have play in them again. Is this normal? Is there something wrong with my car? I have done one trackday on them and they have had gentle road use. No motorsports on them this year.
Is there an alternative?
Cheers

Re: Tow links
They're "uprated", right? (!)

Re: Tow links
Toe links shirley? They control the rear toe.
Do you use dust boots over the joints? The advantage is the joints are stronger, but they're much more susceptible to contamination & therefore wear. Not sure if Geary sells a better grade of joint as well as the standard ones? Gaz's kit on seloc gets a good write up but it's £££again.
On engines we fill around the joints with silicone rtv to keep contamination to a minimum, but it's quite a different environment on the elise, not sure how long that would last.

Re: Toe links
Yea, uprated, with rubber boots over them. Just getting fed up of replacing them so often.
Re: Toe links
I just got a set of Spitfire ones from Gaz on Seloc to replace my mangled one - they are lovely bits of kit (but should be for the $$)
He suggested the rose joints would last a hell of a lot longer than 2k miles - that seems ridiculously low even for the cheaper 'uprated' ones?

Re: Toe links
Geary's on N3 lasted seven years Dom, and you know the sort of usage it had.

Re: Toe links
Do you leave them dry? The last two sets I've fitted I've drenched them in anti corrosion fluid by injecting into the boot before cable tieing the boot closed.
