Went with Pirelli Winter Sottozero 3 on the Evora this year after running Michelin Pilot Alpine PA4 for the last two winters. No issues or anything bad to say about the Michelin tyres, just thought I'd give something else a try this year and these were the only other decent winter tyres in a size for the Evora.
Running 285/30/20 on the rear and 235/35/19 on the front.

No winters for us this year.
Do have a set of 2nd gen MINI rims with barely used Nankang winters on though, if of use to someone!

You expecting another mild winter Campbell?campbell wrote:No winters for us this year.
I came close to buying winter tyres during the really bad winters 3 or 4 years ago but didn't quite get round to it as I have the luxury of being able to work from home if the roads are bad. The last 2 years we have had pretty well zero snow, in spite of the fact I live well up in the Borders. Just about to invest in a set for my new Beemer F31 though. I deliberately didn't go for an Xdrive as the RWD car drives so much better - instead budgeted for a set of 18s with winters in place of the 19" it came on. How many BMW Xdrive buyers completely mistakenly think they are safer in a 4wd car on normal tyres than a RWD on winters?

Great point! I was feeling very smug in the (little) snow we had last winter when, in my winter tyre shod Fiesta ST I stopped behind a M Class Merc with mahoosive wheels, which was stuck on hill. I then pulled out and drove around him, the guy's face was a pictureryallm wrote: How many BMW Xdrive buyers completely mistakenly think they are safer in a 4wd car on normal tyres than a RWD on winters?

Needless to say, IF we get snow this year (usually a day or two) I won't be using my RWD Merc, but will nick what is now the Mrs's Fiesta on winters.

Re: Winter tyres. Discuss.
I have a friend looking for winter tyres, but they are only looking to hold onto there car (£2000 Saab) for another year so i suggested on all year round tyre. The tyres they have on now are throw away so it would save them putting summers on come april time.
How good are they in the snow. The car is mostly only used round town and for trips to and from Glasgow to see her Mum and for there son to visit hospital every 4 months.

I've had them on my car for the last 4k miles and i can't fault them, as a summer tyre they were better than the firestones i took off.Scotty C wrote:I have a friend looking for winter tyres, but they are only looking to hold onto there car (£2000 Saab) for another year so i suggested on all year round tyre. Will be interesting to see how they perform in the winter but so far i'm impressed.
Focus ST estate, i3s and more pushbikes than strictly necessary.
