Forth Road Bridge - now in intensive care
Re: Forth Road Bridge - now in intensive care
Another thing to consider. A 5am start means you will be on the M9 between Stirling and Newbridge around 7am. It's carrying a lot more traffic than normal so do some advance plotting as follows:
Leaving at J4, go through Linlithgow
Then ether aim for Winchburgh then a B Road to take you out at Newbridge
Or aim for S Queensferry then join a deserted A90 towards Barnton junction and over to Maybury
If you have a traffic enabled sat nav or phone, worth stopping en route to make a judgement.
Beware staying on M9 beyond J4 or certainly J3 at that time of the morning...

Agressive and shouty, from nationalists..?Jeremy wrote:I was initially pretty disappointed when I seen some politicians trying to make gain out of the situation rather than focusing their energies on positive solutions. However, the aggressive shouty shouty 'nothing to see here' response from the SNP now leads me to think there is more of a story here than initially appeared. Will be interesting to see how it develops.

Jeremy

We have to perhaps put 2 + 2 together, and wonder why we seem to be going backwards on many aspects under this government within Scotland (compared to the rest of the UK), when our 'ruling party' seems obsessed with constitution change..

Of course they'll spin their way out of this one like all the rest..

Not so sure, they're a populist party. They will avoid anything that makes them look unpopular (as they've been doing for ~8 years) to the masses, even though that leads to perenial short-termism.Scuffers wrote:I have to say, now they have tax raising power's, you can be sure your all likely to get shafted!
For easier and politically convenient to blame Westminster austerity for all Scotlands problems.

Probably did not express that right...
By your all, I mean anybody that actually is worth something and thus a target, ie. imagine what Mr Trump's tax bills will be shortly!

Horay! Some joined up thinking at last!BBC wrote:Other maintenance is also being carried out while the bridge is closed, including line painting and decking work, which authorities said would reduce the need for future closures and restrictions.
Re: Forth Road Bridge - now in intensive care
And there will indeed be an inquiry. But after the bridge is reopened. Also uncharacteristically pragmatic...

Re: Forth Road Bridge - now in intensive care
Anyone know what will happen to the bridge once the new bridge is opened and fully operational?
Will it serve as a dual crossing for a time, or will it be closed and decommissioned? I presume eventually they will have to physically remove the structure itself, athough the concrete foundation and primary columns will have to remain no doubt..

^ the current plan * is for it to become the world's most expensive bus, taxi and cycle lane.
* this seems to change more quickly than the internet can be updated.
