Not bothered who presents it as long as it gets back to being a car prog, and not a vehicle for three twats with mahoosive egos dicking about....that said, Matt LB sounds a bit desperate for ratings......

That would render it unwatchable in an instant. I am just hoping that he is another on the growing list of presenters who are reported to be doing it, but are not.

to be honest, the best bit about the recent Top Gear was the words that they used when hooning the cars about (A).

The artificial trips across countries, the caravans and modifying cars with ridiculous extras were timewasting, and just a wee bit humorous (B).

So if its more if A and less of B, ill be happier.
Be interesting to see if the fans of Top Gear liked more A or B, if that is how the new Top Gear format goes.
If more liked the silly stuff, then well done Amazon, otherwise Top Gear may get stronger.

The new presenters are A list celebs and recognised folk, so has potential.

I think I'm a little disappointed that Chris Harris has joined.

That means we won't get any more of his internet videos directed squarely at petrol-heads.

It might make Top Gear a bit more of a car show but I liked having a mainstream dicking about program loosely based around cars plus the serious (but still entertaining for us petrol-heads) stuff available online.

Will be interesting to see how it works out, hopefully the Harris we know and love translates well to TV.

It's a weird one. I think Evans will be trying to satisfy all camps here. He's fully aware of the wide range of people who watched Old Top Gear because there was a perfect storm of tone and personality. He knows you can't just replicate that with three different guys, and the extended line-up shows this.

So, is it a return to a more magazine format, with specialist reviewers for specialist bits? Sabine and Harris doing the performance stuff, new guy and EJ doing the funnier, more "general market" stuff and somehow Evans gluing it all together with the studio bits? It's the obvious way to steer it - answers a lot of moans about the old show's excesses, whilst still giving leeway to massage the format as he goes along. I bet that he'll be keen to keep it as fluid as possible in the first series - maybe even not fully programming what pieces will be in what shows later in the series, while he sees how the first shows are received - and I think he'd be clever if he did. Kinda like an ongoing mix & match of personalities and formats.

I'm reasonably sure, however, that the first show we see from Evans won't be the finished article - I bet it'll change a lot. I mean look at series one of the previous Top Gear run and compare it to the last one - some core bits remain, but the shows feel completely different. Evans is really good at just throwing ideas at the screen and discarding those that don't work, quickly. Certainly, when he's at his best.

I'm very interested to see what we get here, plus with the Clarkson, Hammond and May show on Amazon - good time for car fans in TV land, in the year to come :thumbsup
