Spa 21/3/16

Post by robin » Sat Feb 13, 2016 7:10 pm

LoT have a day at Spa on 21/3. It's a Monday. I've booked. Haven't thought yet how I am getting there/back, but I've booked the day ..

Anyone else up for it? LoT offer full refund if day is cancelled due to snow and say they'll cancel enough in advance so you don't have to get there only to come home again. That said, there's been no cancellation in the last few years, so fingers crossed :-)

Cheers,
Robin

Am now considering following itinerary

Edinburgh->London on the Saturday, stay with my Mum (though obvz that won't work for anyone else - happy to stop over somewhere else if there's anyone else coming).

London->Eurotunnel->Spa on the Sunday, stay chez Bernie at the La Source probably.

Monday at Spa, then drive back across on a late Eurotunnel crossing and stop maybe just North of London in a travel lodge or similar.

Tuesday, drive home.

Cheers,
Robin

Good to see you getting Egor out smartish, especially to Spa Robin.

Do not know when they are going to pull me in so can not make plans yet.

Well it's a LoT day so I am sure you can decide pretty much last minute whether or not you're going to join me ... I know I've been there with you in your white elise, Tut, cannot be long after you got it. That was when Campbell lent me his S1 (thanks Campbell) and I remember chatting to Bob a lot too (hi Bob if you're listening). It was running quite rich then ... was the mapping done by VW?

Really tempted despite my 2016 trackday motitirium, but have client commitments 21-22 so I'm out. Much regret. Might even have brought the Evora.

I think I can do this.

Maybe ferry out and join you for the drive back.

Malcolm, if you're doing this let me know - I can join you on the ferry also - we can have a civilised dinner ;-)

Never done a LoT day before.

What do I need to do / join beforehand....if anything....

Have a meeting in Geneva the 23rd. Could do Spa, then drive to Geneva for the 23rd. Drive back home the 24th and 25th then KH on the 26th and divorce lawyers the 28th. Sorted...

Martin, looks like it's just a 'no novices' thing which you'd be fine for having done track days before. So just join LoT and book away.

No can do here which is a shame.

If you need somewhere to stopover on the route back you're welcome to stay with us.

FYI, anyone that's coming, BigD & I are travelling on the geordie express - out on the Saturday->Sunday ferry, return on the Tuesday->Wednesday ferry - we've become the new Team Still Game since the other two went into retirement and cannot be bothered driving across England ;-)

I am thinking it might be nice to stay somewhere other than the always expensive La Source - so may go to Le Roannay or may go to Malmedy which is cheaper and you can get a beer and a pizza for dinner instead of having to sit down to a fancy meal - suggestions welcome from those what have done it.

Cheers,
Robin

Ive stayed in stavelot previously robin in a big old hotel in the town square. Was a nice wee place with restaurants etc. Not too far from the circuit. Think it was hotel la maison.

La maison seems to be full but this isn't too far away.
