Also a lot of people getting stopped on the Dyce to Balmedie road at the moment, which has a speed restriction in place.

I religiously stick to the limit now on A roads and even back roads that I do not know especially Scam Van sections, but the big danger on the A95/A96 around here is unintentional speeding especially on the three lane over taking sections when passing a queue. I am really quite paranoiac regarding Vans now, even Verian remarks on my speed.

Without points I would not worry about going up to 80 to get a clear road in front again, but you have to expect a Van to be sitting at the end waiting for cars to do exactly that. The back roads are great, no chance of Vans or patrol cars as there is no traffic, so I can get really good runs in. To be ultra safe you can do the loop one way to check then reverse it. Because of the type of roads you are never getting up to high speed anyway, but it does mean you can ignore the 60 for bends that are comfortable above that speed.

Sorry to hear Danny. The Aberdeen police also have a dark coloured BMW prowling around. Was behind me between the AECC and BandQ roundabouts at the weekend. Spotted it catching up as I tested setup for SIDC. Was testing brakes. Turned left at the BandQ roundabout. They went on to Ellon but had a good look. Definately out in force right now.

Cheers for the well wishes and advice. I guess I'll just wait and see what the outcome is. Wouldn't bloody mind but it's exactly 8 years today since I passed my bike test and have never been done once on the bike.

Will let you know how it works out for me.

Cheers

Danny

How strictly are they policing the 30 limits around the peripheral route works ?. Especially at night when no one is working?

The 50 limit Blackdog to Balmedie is heavily policed. I've seen a few pulled on that stretch, usually marked cars but one scam van spotted...

I got done for the same speed by a traffic car on a dual carriageway and got 3points and £80 fine.

I just plead guilty by letter.

That was 16 years ago though and I was a student at the time so I feel your fine may be a bit higher!

At least the copper had a sense of humour though- after ignoring the bottle of vodka on my passenger seat (end of uni term- I was on my way to a party!) he got me in the back of his car and said "nice car son, is it fast?"

A 1.4 Clio! :damnfunny So the answer was no.... although it evidently does manage to get to 98mph.....

It was lowered with alloys from the 16V model, fancy exhaust etc so to the untrained eye looked like a 16V. Think he was just being a funny cnut tbh.

I guess we've all been there (or been lucky). Best of luck when you're case comes up Danny. :?

A note of caution for all Weegies- there is a blanket 20mph speed limit across the Glasgow city centre from 21/3. I'm not sure how far It extends. I guess the embarrassment of being done for speeding at 27 mph should mean we'll all be ultra careful :blackeye

The apprentice at my work has just got done for doing 80 on the a90 by the scamvan at newton hill beside the wee Tesco. Says he was on the cruse as he does every day, I didn't think they could get you at that thought it was 82ish before you were in trouble!

It generally used to be 10% +3 mph so assuming it's a 70 he's just over.

They are set at 79 on the A90, general rule now is 10% + 2.
