It bothers me that there is little or no publicity about the state of the Scottish Oil Industry.
The SNP made a big thing about £1m fund for to help the 230 steelworkers in Lanarkshire yet there are probably many more jobs lost in the oil industry each month and its being largely ignored as it's seen as a rich industry so no political wins by highlighting the job losses people are facing.

Meanwhile there are weekly protests in George Square (Glasgow), that I can recall:
Anti-austerity (not sure how we're supposed to fund that) ,
Striking Janitors for extra allowances as their job involves dirty conditions ( seriously?)
CCTV operators for an extra £7.5k pa for existing 12 hour shifts ( they won that one!! )
No more cuts ( see anti- austerity above!!)
Social Workers against the termination of the jobs of those on temporary contracts.
No More Cuts (it crops up regularly)
A tent protest against Homelessness ( they had brand new camping gear, sleeping bags, mobile phones, WiFi printers to print off leaflets!! ) they left when they were served with eviction notices - but not before one of their number ran off with the money raised from public donations in their collecting buckets
A protest against Tunnocks taking the Lion Rampant off the tea cake packaging !! ( which got so much publicity Tunnocks increased sales :damnfunny )
and predictably support for SNP & a 2nd referendum

The world is lived out in bubbles and sometimes we only get to see into other people worlds when it suits the political agenda...

What the loony left help the nasty evil oil industry?

As to the SNP raising the idea that the oil industry is circling the drain :damnfunny :damnfunny :damnfunny :damnfunny

Why would they do that?

They promised everyone in scotland £300,000 in oil revenue

And we are going independent next year so why would they point out the oil industry is scuppered

The industry woes are politically inconvenient for the current governing party, hence its no real surprise. Easier to blame Westminster for not setting up an oil fund.

Plus, the electorate needed to secure majorities are mostly central-belt based, who are obviously much less affected by these industry problems. The faux anti-austerity message is much more likely to reel these voters in.
