MTB 20mm through axle front hubs on a stub axle, advantage is you get disk brakes for minimal effort . . simple enough to fabricate a hub carrier, front and rear fixed axles would keep things under control complexity wise . . bmx ish rims with slicks . . always wanted to do some gravity racing, never had the time . .

I will double check but fairly suire the regs stated no string or foot actuated steering.
Hm. Wonder if we are looking at different regs?!

Wow, that changes thing! Originally I thought it was going to be official soap box rules. Those are very loose and there's a picture of one with rope steering so happy days.

Now reconsidering entry.... :thumbsup

Insufficient . . . I'd go with a pram based solution ;-)

I watched a Red Bull soap box program recently, assume it is part of a series.
Maybe good for research and lots of info on what not to do

The Red Bull stuff certainly planted a seed. But some of it's on a different level entirely and clearly designed for spectator value!

I don't either! It's with it to realise how insanely intense the experience of building one becomes. Go on!

My logic, two reasons for not going for MTB wheels on a bolt through axle;

1. 15 or 20mm was lateral strength. Have here not so round 20mm axles front wheels in the garage. Again no idea what the track is like. Anthony FFS big hint!!! Cough, SE advantages required [THUMBS UP SIGN]

2. Lower overall CoG

It's for my kids, but I want a go as well, so driver weight range from 22-98kgs!

Highly scientific for no reason!

We need more racers and I know here are a lot of perfectly capable folk here, who else is going to stop Campbell and I rocking up with cardboard and Lego built carries [AMBULANCE]

Careful ? . . . feck off . . . you gonna ban me ?

I've seen your tech skills first hand dude, you need a designer, fabricator and a driver . . .

Discussion over, the SE moderation sh*t brigade strike again . . .
