Forget steel, Alu and ships. But I agree on engineering.

Why not?

Quality steel is very much a engineering industry. You try getting good quality steel to NORSOK standardise almost exclusively comes from Germany

Aluminium smelting is perfectly viable in scotland if we had cheaper power

And shipbuilding it is very very much engineering. If France, Italy, Poland, south korea, japan and Norway can build ships commercially why can't we? (well apart from the idiot lets strike because the day has a D in it unions)

That's my point. Without a change in attitude and cheaper power, these industries can't compete globally. And such markets are fully global now.

I have. I doubt I will regret this but..

Investment for fledgling engineering exploits?

Funding for startups?

Funding for people like Elon Musk to build gigafactories.

Edinburghs FS market is still funding Scotland while O&G struggles.

Don't get me wrong I would prefer it was engineering the led the economy but I am realistic.

Which leaving the EU could bring

But not with the constant green bull and victim card waving coming from certain places

Clarkson as normal is correct on this

Right. We should have 24 hours of despair and moaning, and then we will all have to roll up our sleeves and make this sh!t shower work.

Scotland going into EU outside of UK is a thing of nightmares.
Euro.
Free movement, right up to English border, so Calais camps come to Scotland.
3% deficit conditions for acceptance, but ours is 9.7% - worse than Greece, and look what happened to the conditions set upon them.
i.e. good bye public services, including most NHS.

Nah, Scotland independence is very much a possibility, as waves of people dont think things through, and it will be doomsday to the life as we know it.

Financial services setting up in Ed instead of Dublin?
Why would they ever do that? Makes no sense. Microsoft Scotland? haha, nope.

Renewables requires massive new engineering, its not a scam, its the future energy source.
It needs ambition and foresight.

Sturgeon and her army of blue and white robots will take Scotland out of UK and into EU, to the ruin of our lives.
She will blame EU for anything that goes wrong.

She has no game other than Independence and grievance.

No good will come of this. None.

Maybe maybe not

The euro = So fecking what

Forced to run a 3% deficit max = :damnfunny bye bye freebies that will give "we want free everything" brigade a MAJOR MAJOR headache. And Queen Nicola will have to act like a grown up not a petulant toddler

Financial services in Edinburgh = Why not? Houses prices go bananas and force the bravehearts out of edinburgh and a load of english bankers come into town :damnfunny :damnfunny

Free movement = Loads of nasty foreign types in the central belt :damnfunny our racist little NATs will love that.

It could actually turn into a massive massive laugh if the EU bend the rules and let us in straight away. i would trust the EU to run scotland more then the SNP and Scottish labour. As the SNP has a very evil streak and labour are just fecking clueless.

Most of us on here are bright enough to up sticks to anywhere in the world if/when it turns nasty

Your average SNP drone might not find it so easy.

And she won't blame the EU for anything

It will all be the fault of the barsteward english and the EU will back her to the hilt

Got to admit, she scares the crap out of me.

Currently I like our position. Support from the UK, when needed. Our own parliament with quite a lot of power.

I like the idea of the ruling being closer to home, Im not the same as some frog who works a 30 hours week. Our own decisions not coming through EU.

Yep all good, but Im terrified that she will bring us out.

TBH Id be happy with a big wall built around banff and buchan to keep all you feckers out. ( I realize you may like this to keep us all in!)

Also, how do the remain voters feel about the comments from the EU members/leaders today? The whole "not and amicable divorce" pissed me off.Are these really people we want to be in bed with?

I think Steve sums it up perfectly.

But the 48% of Remain voters were all completely and totally informed, yes ? There aren't broadly similar numbers of uninformed voters on both sides of the fence which in all probability cancel each other out ?

I've seen cringeworthy TV interviews from Leave voters who were voting out purely because they were pissed off with their Polish neighbours throwing wild parties and playing loud music and from Remain voters who were worried that their annual jaunt to Benidorm could be in jeopardy.

Democracy, etcs.
