Credit wheres credits due, I got knocked off my road bike by a barsteward in a transit who then ran (not before I clocked his plate). Police took a while to chase this up, taking around 3 weeks before they took a statement which made me think nothing would come of it as I had no other witnesses. Then around 7-8 months later I got a letter saying the driver had been charged with dangerous driving and I got a check to cover damages to the bike.

That said I have to agree that Scamvans are not there to improve the standard of driving, only to make some money.

You obviously got the Fast Response Team Graham, were they armed?

Update - 5 weeks tomorrow since I was stopped, and still I've not had any correspondence from the Police or Procurator Fiscal. :?

Was I not supposed to receive a letter within 14 days of the offence?

Cheers

I'm not sure about that, but you should phone and complain.

That is for a camera, notice of intended prosecution. I am not sure of the time limit if your stopped and cautioned ,six months rings a bell.

You should have been advised that you were being reported for the offence at the time you were stopped. If you weren't it should be done and dusted. If you were advised you would be reported there's no 14 day limit.

NIP is served at the roadside when they identified you.

Your either waiting on a big brown envelope of doom (mine appeared about 2.5 months after the offence with the court date for the following month) or in the small chance that it's been thrown out/lost/there are errors you are in the clear. There is a time frame on serving your court date, three months rings a bell but I'm not certain.

Smack on what I thought Danny, presume Aberdeen. Five points was the best you could hope for.

You muppet (I did something similar before)
Not too bad. Annoying though, 5/6mph less would be no court and 3 points ..

2mph less and I'd have got 3 points.

That's my first ever points and did expect minimum of 5. Just need to behave now.

There is only one safe way but it is bloody boring and almost impossible in an Elise. However it is possible to narrow the odds, but that means sticking to the speed limits plus a bit on the main roads.

On our favourite backroads I had never been caught in seventeen years until a couple of months ago by the Defender on the Dufftown road, he could not have booked me as he never had me in sight so just a talk, but I took it as another warning that you can not even take those roads for granted.
