Front clam re-spray in the shire of Aberdeen.
Front clam re-spray in the shire of Aberdeen.
My front clam is looking in a bit of a sorry state at the moment and was wondering if there were any recommendations in Aberdeenshire and a rough idea of current climate costs?
Looks like I'll need to get the windscreen done to as some idiot driving far to fast in the opposite direction on resurfacing areas with reduced speed limits. It's badly largely chipped in two areas but that's for me to hopefully sort out with the insurance.

There was a place I went to a few years ago for a quote out in (I think..) Lethany Mill near Inverurie.
Can't remember the name of the place / guy who was doing it, but he was recommended for fibreglass repair / spraying.
Usual Aberdeenshire premium, but was cheaper than one of the usual 'specialist' garages...

Kinghorn in Blackburn do a good job and seem to be trusted with most exotica, but probably not the cheapest.

Warren Dunbar at North East Autobody in Ashley Lane is good.
I had a very poor experience with a place in Kintore a couple of years back, not sure what the policy of naming and shaming is here but if you want details PM me. Basically, they talk the talk and put lots of very good looking stuff on their FB page but don't be taken it by it!

You've not been to lethenty mill for a while I see..... It was recently completely burned down which is a shame.
I fear they'll be to expensive as I've dealt with them before but their work is first class.graeme wrote:Kinghorn in Blackburn do a good job and seem to be trusted with most exotica, but probably not the cheapest.
Cheers I'll get in touch with them as I tried castlepark auto body in Ellon but it's a good job I was sitting down as it was over a grand which I thought was a bit steep.captain wrote:Warren Dunbar at North East Autobody in Ashley Lane is good.

With bodywork cheap is usually bad!
Castle park and Kinghorn both have a very good rep.
A mate of mine is in the motor trade and has had some very tricky jobs done by Lawrence of Kemnay of all people and he is very pleased with the results.

Re: Front clam re-spray in the shire of Aberdeen.
So what is the going rate for a clam respray........? I'm maybe we'll out of touch with costs of this type of things,as the mechanicals have always mostly been done by myself. My car was a CAT D once upon a time, hence why I can't really justify big costs in chasing bodywork perfection in a 13 year old car.
Re: Front clam re-spray in the shire of Aberdeen.
warren did my M3 from the waist down was quite reasonable.
I saw the work captain had done also... Kinghorn are FFS expensive.
Friend had his CSL completely resprayed last winter looks well done, down near cults somewhere, name escapes me.
Considered a wrap?

A family member mentioned a wrap but I've never seen one up close.... might be worth it in the long term for protection. I would need to see one to make me sway but could be an option.
Re: Front clam re-spray in the shire of Aberdeen.
give these are fibreglass i felt a wrap would be the logical choice, OK might add a few kilos of weight. Lot round the corner from where polished bliss where did quite a few, rood signs, just along the road. No idea these days who is good or not sorry!
My pals VW golf mk2 country was wrapped, looks pretty good to my untrained eye, has been like that for 3 years and still looks great.

Re: Front clam re-spray in the shire of Aberdeen.
My mates flat was one of the ones that burned down in Lethenty Mill, be heard the crackling and fire but went back to sleep as he wasn't worried! Firemen took him out and he was in work the same day while his flat was ruined 6 months after it was flooded. Anyway sorry about the thread drift. Kemnay autobody have done great work for me at great prices. I think castle park in Ellon were also highly regarded.
