Book of Tut.

Post by tut » Wed Oct 26, 2016 1:01 pm

I have been asked a few times lately what happened to it, and then Verian gave it to me the other day to proof read.

It all seems such a long time ago though, 46 years since I went out to Oman and a large number of my friends have passed away since. However I was looking for something else and this thread came up from ten years ago, so since it is quiet nowadays and we have had new members since then, I thought that I would stick it in.

Great to read this thread again. I might actually have a trip to Oman in a few weeks time but I'm guessing things have changed considerably over the years.

It sure has John, I have not been there since 1984 and I did not recognise it then.

Just got the results of the chest/lung scan in, so had better get going with the Book of Tut.

"Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis (IPF) is a condition in which the lungs become scarred and breathing becomes increasingly difficult.
It's not clear what causes it, but it usually affects people around 70-75 years of age and is rare in people under 50.

There's currently no treatment that can stop or reverse the scarring of the lungs. About half of people with IPF lived 1.5 to three years from their diagnosis.
"

Unfortunately it is terminal, but on top of that I was told that when they went back through my records, they found that it had shown up on a scan in 2014, but they had not informed me, so two years already used up.

Tut, terrible news, sorry to hear that mate. You've already shown in this thread alone that you're a fighter so I wouldn't bet against you beating the odd, stay strong.

They do get things wrong. Ten years ago I was in Aberdeen Hospital on the table as they went to open up my face to remove a tumour.

Thankfully they did once last check and found out that the X-ray belonged to another patient.

Found a photo album on Flickr of old Oman pics from 1970 when I started there, to after my time in the 80's when the tanks came along.
