Hamilton being gracious as ever - "This is the first time he's won in 18 years, hence why it was not a surprise he decided to stop."

Rosberg knows he has peaked, one less failure in qualifying and Hamilton would have won, without the Malaysia failure it would have been a breeze.

Calculated decision, a shock at first but sensible, he'll be able to dine out on this far more this way.

Nice idea but I can't see it ever happening

:withstupid
If anything Merc favoured his win so they had 2 world champions on the books, with that in the bag next year he was going to be 'on his own' so makes sense to leave on a high
I would love to see Alonso, Verstappen, Jenson or Kimi join the team but I think in reality it will be Werlein or another relative newbie.

Suspect that his contract is fairly tight, wont stop the lawyers having a squizz at get out clauses though.

Odds on must be Vettel.

Smiliest option would be Jensen, but he will not have sobered up in time for pre-season testing

Probably going to be one of the newbies.....

Hope it's none of the old guys that go to merc. They've had their chance, give a youngster a go.

thinking more about it, I can maybe see them giving him a years contract whilst they sort out a long term strategy..

that said, the sensible money is on Pascal Wehrlein.

Are Mercedes not interested in the constructors championship rather than the drivers championship so they'll go for someone who can bag maximum points? (edited due to a typo) :damnfunny
