The stiff limbs and tiredness have ebbed now and looking back it was a lot of fun. The build was a bit all consuming but most important was the fun in competition. Great to have multiple teams from SE, the banter and inter team support, was testament to why this place is magic.

Thanks for everyone's support on the day, and particularly those who picked up G when he flipped the cart. I think Woody said he put his back out getting him going again.

Now I've just got to find a place to put this bloody great cart so we can pull it out again and look at some modification before entering again next year.

William at Fennel Media kindly provided his footage of the crash. This makes it look much worse as far as rolling over. In case it isn't obvious, the cart weights A LOT.

This includes a great video of still shots from event, featuring many of the hillclimb cars, static displays (just the ones outside the castle) and the soap box derby. So a year has past already, where does the time go!

This year the RDSF theme is classic racers and as such we're having a team name change to something fitting.

Time is short this year, we're moving house 2 days before the event. We set out to make this a family outing and the kids love it so we're going to leave a house full of boxes and come to race at Royal Deeside. With limited time we're keeping to some necessary mods identified last year and a bit more time on body work. Grandpa and boy wonder are going to get their card board construction skills frothing over some summer holiday days.

Chassis worked well last year and was robust . But the steering was far too twitchy and the brakes weren't up to scratch. We sourced the brakes last minute and on inspection the pads are almost plastic. With time limitation we're going to find some sticky brake blocks and see if that helps. We have only got calliper brakes so they will never be amazing. Jealous of the v brakes on Campbells new setup.

The mods to the steering are already underway. We have had to massively lengthen the steering arms. The available lock is now reduced but we had too much to start with.

Theme wise we had played with a few ideas including Porsche 917 and JagXKSS but both were a bit ambitious. More to come on that later.

Our brakes aren't yet assembled so who knows! Steering may have to remain foot-operated due to own time constraints and lack of engineering skillz but we'll see after our hols...

Making some good use of left over insulation for creating shapes and then will clad in cardboard. Not the most robust but time is tight.

Been meaning to do more update but with house move yesterday and actually building the cart today, coupled with the Photobucket nonsense it's been slow to get pictures up. I'll do a better write up when I get some time.

It was Team JPS who inspired us this year. We compared notes do as to avoid another brace of bat mobiles.

Team Ecurious Ecosse is making a Tyrell 006, the famous steed of Jackie Stewart. We've had so little time because of other most of the work in two evenings and today. I'll load some pictures up shortly but the pic below should give you the
Idea.

It was interesting to see that many bounced on landing after the ramp, and under compression some of the wheels and tyres ended up at strange angles!
