What Car to Get #3
Re: What Car to Get #3
Might have another look at the Macans. Love the look of the new XC40 but it's too new and maybe a bit small.
You still got that big pimpy spec RRS Gary!?

Re: What Car to Get #3
Have you thought about an B8 RS4?
Maybe not the most economical but we have gone from the BMW 335D X-Drive Tourer (bit of a gap into a Mk1 TT) and then into a B8 RS4.
For Sandra doing a small amount of miles it is not too bad on the fuel but admit it does like a drink. However as the last of the V8's its a cracking motor. Was a little bit concerned about the Dynamic steering but I am slowly getting used to it although I have not fiddled that much on the settings in the "Individual" drivers mode yet.

Re: What Car to Get #3
I'd love an RS4, but my average speed for the 90 mile commute is rarely above 30mph so a complete waste of the V8 engine.

Re: What Car to Get #3
If it's a 90 mile commute you're in ideal territory for an i3RX. I know one guy who changed his M3 for one for commuting Fraserburgh to Aberdeen (similar distance) and loves it.

Re: What Car to Get #3
I love my i3 (non-RX) for local stuff but it's marmite in looks. I'd consider the new Leaf as a leccy option if you have somewhere to charge it at home.

Re: What Car to Get #3
i3 is tempting in some ways.. but it's a bit wee I think. Still feels like a local use car rather than a motorway commuter. Does have a whiff of special needs mobility vehicle about it too so unlikely to pass the SWMBO test.

All I'm hearing is whether her indoors will accept it for being perceived as high end enough.
Maybe worth having a word and telling her that such and such car is perfectly good enough.
You're only creating a rod for your own back and potentially setting yourself up for a marriage of grief.
/lucky to have an undemanding and quite likeable wife faction

Nah.. she's cool. Basically said it's up to me but..... don't come back with something sh*t.
If I'm spending over 20k on something .. it has to be good/high end, otherwise I'll just keep the XC70 shed!

Re: What Car to Get #3
Lol.. I've already veto'd Skoda. I actually like the Yeti but I'll save that for when I retire with a couple of dogs.
Proud to be a badge-snob. But tbh.. I've genuinely considered Skodas before and been open minded about it but just fail to see the appeal.

Thought about an F Pace on one of those cheap as chips £289 down and £289/ month. Endure basic spec and throw away in 3 years arrangements?
