Royal deeside speed festival
Royal deeside speed festival
Just had an email, this has been brought forward to Saturday 16th June and some changes have been made to keep the action flowing.
I had a great day participating last year, any SEr’s going/ having a display?

Don’t be afraid to take part in the hill guys, it’s only really a display and not timed. If you don’t let your ego work the gas, you’ll be perfectly safe.
Re: Royal deeside speed festival
Heard that this might now be cancelled...

It was just yesterday I received an email inviting me back, maybe they only want to do it if I attend!

Re: Royal deeside speed festival
Well. They need to be talking to each other. One of them just wrote to me asking us to confirm our Soapbox entry...

Re: Royal deeside speed festival
I can all imagine, bringing the date forward a couple months ceates a challenge to enroll participants, i must admit, I hadn’t given it much thought this early in the year and likely, neither have lots of others who would be glad to support and encourage the event.
Get your names down while there’s still time, closing date for entry is the end of March.
A rumbling, yellow TVR on the track would certainly be worth seeing!

Re: Royal deeside speed festival
I don't doubt that, alas I'll be far far away on the new proposed date

Re: Royal deeside speed festival
Facebook post says they are looking for support to ensure it happens.

CUT AND PASTE OF POST
YOUR FESTIVAL NEEDS YOU!
This is probably the most important RDSF post -
The following is a plea to everyone who follows, takes part in or who attends The Royal Deeside Speed Festival.
In recent weeks several major motoring festivals have fallen by the wayside and we as organisers can understand why.
All four of us wear our hearts on our sleeves and believe fully that there is a place for a festival such as ours. Basically we, as a spectacle are “the last man standing.”
There is no other festival in Scotland like ours. Period.
To continue with the festival we need your help.
We have massive public interest.
We have massive interest from those wishing to display and sell their wares and vehicles.
We have massive interest from those wishing to attend. Our soap box derby and hill climb are almost fully subscribed.
We have over 4000 followers and around 6000 attendees at each festival so far.
Based on this, we don’t think we are barking up the wrong tree putting RDSF on as there is clearly a huge demand for us to do so.
But.....
Each year, we need sponsors to join us to make it a reality and the amazing family day out that has become.
We have the spectacle and great things planned for RDSF 2018 and beyond.
1. We need at least 100 straw bales to make the hill climb as safe as possible. (these are very scarce this year due to a poor harvest and therefore more expensive than previous years.)
2. We need qualified and experienced (and novice) marshals for the hillclimb. We may be able to provide training for anyone who is keen to be a marshal but who has no previous experience/ training.
3. We need a Chief hillclimb Marshal.
Back to wearing our hearts on our sleeves, we are all working quite literally night and day to put the show on but without sponsors, straw bales and hillclimb marshals there will simply be no Royal Deeside Speed Festival.
So, this is a plea from us to you all. If there is anyone or a group able to assist in these critical areas, then please get in touch.
Many thanks from the Team.
