ALARM

Post by RDH » Fri Nov 10, 2006 9:18 am

Just got my car back from the bodyshop - thye've done a pretty good job apart from: the missing grille and; and the fact I can't set the alarm!

THe alarm just beeps constantly when set! They had the front clam off - could they have disrupted the sensors?

Any thoughts greatfully recieved!

Cheers

check tha manual - IIRC there's something in there about resetting the system (or that might just be the fobs...)

Sore one mate, hope it gets sorted :)

Could be - the most likely would be the bonnet sensor - pop the bonnet and check that it's there and connected!

Cheers,

dont s2s have access panels rather than a bonnet?! :?

does sound like a sensor issue though....

Rob, I can send you PDF of the Cobra alarm manual. PM me your email address.

If you end up needing to re-synch the alarm, you hold down both buttons on the fob simultaneously for about 10 seconds while standing close to the car. You do this til it stops flashing or something, but can't remember the details, so will send you the manual.

Thanks - just downloaded it from the site above! I'll try that first! Then - kick up a storm at Nationwide if it doesn't work!

UPDATE

Post by RDH » Thu Nov 16, 2006 11:06 pm

Nationwide sent out an auto electrician to fix my alarm yesterday!

He tells me that it's a bonnet switch that's knackered - probably due to being pulled out when they removed the clam!

He also tells me that the garage told him (he's a sub-contractor) the alarm kept going off while they were fixing it - so they tried to disconnected the system?

It's now working - but is minus a sensor!

The electrician also kindly pointed out that they'd made an @rse of the paintjob  - whilst looking behind the (missing  ) grille - he points out runs in the paint! Does no-one have any pride in their work anymore?

I've spoken to the service manager -and he says he doesn't understand how that could have happened - but they'll have a look? At which point I said "No - you'll fix it!"

To be continued!
