NIP for 82

Post by Mr Momo » Sat Apr 19, 2025 8:01 pm

Evenin' all

Got a NIP for 82 on the A9 at Gleneagles last week, coming back from Hamilton.

Any of indication of what this could result in ? Clean licence at present 🙄.

TIA

Most likely SP30 so 3 points and £100, based on it being a 70?

I got an SP50 (Motorway) / 3pts / £100 for 80 in a 70 2 years ago :leave

Thanks Ross - had been sensible, given the average cameras, but I must of got caught by a van or had a momentary lapse of brain capacity (not unusual 🙄).

I got an SP30 3 points and £100 for 75 in a 60 a couple of years ago, so that seems to be the most likely outcome.

While I remember, I called the broker who insured my 911 and they were not bothered.
I called the company that insured my Aygo and they cancelled my policy immediately !?!

Any Aygo policy should be cancelled immediately, regardless

Sorry to hear of all the points, fellas. NIP for 82 in a 70 is harsh. But they assume your speedo is reading 85-90 I guess. Interestingly, speedo on our new Audi is remarkably accurate. Think it’s using GPS. Albeit must also have a wheel sensor a backup.

Be careful out there.

The Speedo on the A1 reads the same as Google Maps GPS, so similar experience.

The Lotus may be +1-2mph.

Yep was a real disaster.
Insurance on the Aygo went up almost 50% (from £110 to £170 per year :D )

Ruined my best ever insurance year too - (£110 for the year less £25 cashback from Quidco for a net £85 for the year).

Decided to go down to one car now I'm retired (and the 997 was a pain if wasn't used for a couple of weeks) but still wanted something quick.
Sold the 911 (to Mr. Moncrieff) and traded the Aygo against a GR Yaris at my usual Toyota dealer (got to love a car that has a 10 year warranty and the manufacturer's warranty covers problems incurred on a track day).

Requested and received photos showing the two shots - one at the Gleaneagles jct (A823) and the second at the Auchterarder jct (A824).

The Scorpion tracker has speed points every where else, as I’d just come out of the petrol station and had to come up to speed on the inside lane, but not across this stretch.

Both. The original final drive with 50% power increase means she'll redline in top gear with ease, but then I feel guilty for pushing a 53 year old so hard.

She loves it really :blackeye
