AAARRRGGHHH.. just been burgled

Left work at 5 tonight, Louise phoned me at 5 past, having just got home to find we had been burgled

Back window smashed, but not all the way through, and window forced open. Quite an achievement for a modern double glazed unit with three locks on it! 2 Laptops gone, playstation, watch, mp3 player (more business for Shug coming soon) CD player, jewelery (sp?) etc.... They did leave some stuff... I guess our old tv was not good enough for them

All insured, but a bl**dy nightmare. Glazier arrived 1 hour later. Police arrived 4 hours later.

Now pulled the old PC out the back of the garage, and got it back to life. God this thing is slow! At least we are still conected to the www. Louise
& I both felt so isolated without the internet & emails... quite scary really.

If anyone hears of some cheap Dell laptops for sale, let me know, & I'll be right round

sh*t mate thats bad news, havent heard that kind of thing happen for a while. Something to be said for Americas gun laws.

Get a huge dug like Mac & Mandy's.

WTF.......That is shocking and you are one cool, relaxed, and layed back dude!

I am thinking if the same happened here the only thing i would be doing is being forced to get down the Estate agents and find a new house!

Fair play to the missus mate, you make sure you look after her!

A property which I rent out to students in Dundee was burgled during the xmas hols last year. Scumbags also got in through a small double glazed window unit which had multi-point locking mechanism. Police were really interested (not).

Sorry to add to your stress, but be careful of identity theft!

Had a place in Edinburgh broken into a few months ago and the cheeky f***ers took a few items (laptop, watches, jar of coins!) as cover for their real target which was passports, driving licences, etc. They took copies of all the id they could find then returned it to where they found it to avoid detection.
Within a few weeks they had applied for all sorts of credit, even getting a direct debit set up from my flat mates bank account for sky TV!

Remember though, in home security all you have to do is look more difficult than next door!

Dog works wonders, especially a really big and noisy one that will eat all the evidence....

Bad luck mate. We got burgled when I was a student, the stole a whole pile of coats, the video and some videos. Left the tv and the video remote but took the tv remote!

Barry (our huge dug) lay snoring at the bottom of the bed when Mandy & I were broken into. It was only when the guy left, leaving the door open that he got a draught did he decide to wake up and alert us!

Was going to eat the police when he woke up though and was pretty cool that we could tell them what direction the guy had left in as Barry was able to pick up his trail.

Thanks for the kind messages guys & gals.

Final insult was pulling the duvet back to get into bed to discover they had taken a pillow case, presumably to use as a swag bag. Strange they felt the need to make the bed! I'll let the cops know they are looking for house proud neds.

Thanks for that advice.
I'll contact my bank and advise them to check with me or alert me to any unusual activity or new direct debits etc. Is there any thing else I should be doing?

Sorry to hear this, Dominic.

Had the same experience in my student days, and for me it wasn't the material loss but rather the feeling of intrusion it left us with

. They took every pillow case and duvet cover from the house!
