I'd be tempted to take up baseball now. Keep all your new sporting equipment under your bed including a glove and ball. You wouldn't want to keep just a bat under your bed as that would be considered a weapon ;)

If you sign up to http://www.creditexpert.co.uk (or one of the other similar companies) you can arrange for them to notify you every time a new application for credit is made in your name.
Its quite interesting/scary how much information these sites have on you.

Hopefully you will be fine, but worth checking just in case!

Dom, gutted for you.
Only ever had my car broken into, and that was years ago in Carlisle, never the house, advantage of living where we do I suppose. So I can't say I know what you are going through. But chin up mate.

Things are all insured. We are all ok, and still able to talk to each other on here. More importantly, how are you?!!

I'm fine Dom, thanks for asking.
Worst bit is the compression fracture to the back. Done it before nearly 20 years ago, so not a complete shock to deal with, but I the full use of both arms then. Swings and roundabouts eh.

Yes insurance is good, and will replace the things with more or better ones. At the end of the day though they are still only things. You have a right to feel safe and secure in your own home, and when this settles down I hope you both still do.

Look after yourself and what is important to you.

Dom

Really sorry to hear about this and know how you feel as I was broken into a few times in Livingston. Once I did catch them and gave them the fright of their life when I came into the livingroom and pointed a browning pistol at them. It was only a blank firer (though a very loud one) but I didn't even have any blanks in it, so I was really bluffing them. Wasn't wanting any more confrontation and told them to get the hell out of my house before I decided to shoot them. Needless to say they did move quite quickly

Called the Police and they managed to get them from my description. They had been caught later that night just about killing a guy they had jumped  Went to Linlithgow Sherrif court to give evidence against them. The Judge was knicknamed "No Bail, Go to Jail, McPhail" and after my evidence off they went to Jail. Quite a few funny incidents during my evidence giving which made the court and police laugh and made the two neds look even more dumb. Was concerned for a revenge attack when they got out but a friend of mine who had been in Barlinie when he was younger managed to convince them that I was some sort of nutter and that they were lucky to be alive and to stay clear of me.

Many years later was broken into again but quite weird as I was targeted for my shotguns and the only folk that knew I had them were the Police  Never felt safe again in the house and moved away.

Mate just had his house broken into for a LCD TV and jewellery last week. Left laptops, tools and computer stuff. Maybe come back for them another day  Family is quite upset about the whole thing and feel insecure. Police scene of crimes rushed there in just under 3 days  Reckon it happened just after dusk. They used a jemmy to force a very strong Patio door.

Dom Louise - Hope you get everything sorted soon and that they don't come back.

Iain

Hey Dominic, I hope you are each closer to getting over such a horrible event.
Youve just gone thru what i fear every day being ground floor...

You may not remember me...you once showed me what the Beemer can do with that fascinating hydrolic handbrake  in the tiniest of spaces 8) in the car park of the truck garage next to Maryhill last winter...

I hope youve fixed that exhaust by now...it was hanging by the manifold that night hehe!

Dom - that's a fecker! Really sorry to hear about that. Got broken into about 5 times at my ma & pa's, ended up on the Redcare system that's worked wonders since. Even when I set the system off accidentally, the police were round in 10 mins!

As ever, its not the posessions that you loose that are the worst, its the dirty feeling of some scumbag littering through your stuff that's the real irk factor.

Thanks to VXJON, Louise & I are now more secure in our wee home, with a much upgraded alarm system. Great price too,... and Jon knows his stuff :thumbsup

We would highly recomend his services to anyone thinking about installing / upgading their alarm.
