Which S2?
Quick question to see what you guys would be inclined to go for:
S2 111s
S2 135
S2 with ported head(DVA), 633 cams, verniers, 4-2-1...approx 150bhp without emerald.
As you may have seen from the classifieds, i'm considering selling my 160 for a not standard S2.

S2 111S - better bargain. 135R is a good un, but you'll be looking for more punch. Better to get the S2 111S and get nitrons/protechs/LSS and 48s yourself.
highly tuned cars, I'm begining to get all granny-like about this, but you can't always trust an upgrade, maybe better to DIY (unless of course its an absolute steal ala Shoomer)

Re: Which S2?
In theory the handling of all three is the same as they're all the same base car (same wheels, tyres and suspension). Someone will no doubt correct me here if I am wrong.kill_zippy wrote:Quick question to see what you guys would be inclined to go for:

You've no doubt worked this out already, but the 111s will have 156 bhp at least, though has the long 2nd gear so if you plan to drive it on track you will need to be taking a lot of classic 3rd gear corners in 2nd, which some people are cool with and some people hate. The upside is that it's an nice road car without giving up much on the track.
The 135, if it's a Lotus supplied 135 head, will have 135-140 bhp (typical - but the odd one has <130

The DVA one might make a good basis for further tuning, depending on what's been done to the head already (is it a big valve head, for example?).
What sort of prices are they all? If you save 1-2K on one compared to the others, that's money you can spend on making it more track focussed if that's what you want, or just put in the bank pending the inevitable big bill

Cheers,
Robin

I'm thinking of this one, although its on standard exhaust and brakes...
http://forums.seloc.org/viewthread.php? ... pid2449061
Hope you can see this, not sure if it's members only...
If not then a cheapish 111s....
There is also one on pistonheads:

Although the milage is a little scary.

Re: Which S2?
Agree with the above except...
You can bog down in 3rd though so often have to use 2nd as Robin says. 3rd gear runs to over 100mph and at tracks like KH you barely use 4th.
...on a 111S it's 3rd gear which is really long (and 4th and 5th). 1st and 2nd are actually fractionally shorter than a std S2.robin wrote: You've no doubt worked this out already, but the 111s will have 156 bhp at least, though has the long 2nd gear so if you plan to drive it on track you will need to be taking a lot of classic 3rd gear corners in 2nd, which some people are cool with and some people hate. Re: Which S2?
Yup, 3rd gear is long and I'm just changing into 4th at about 105mph at KH then braking for Duffus at around 110.alicrozier wrote:...on a 111S it's 3rd gear which is really long (and 4th and 5th). 1st and 2nd are actually fractionally shorter than a std S2.

S1 135 according to the pic and description for the Glasgow dealer.
Apart from the fact that it has a subwoofer and foglights (the latter is definitely a lie), that's a nice car to have. Mileage on the high side (mine is similar age but 65k so who am I to talk!), this just means check that it's had high mileage things done like cam belt change, suspension, ball joints etc etc.
