Been offered a new job
Background - work as a CA for one of the "Big 4" Accountancy firms - do ridiculous hours at times - basic is 37.5hrs - been known to do 70+

- no overtime payments or time off in leiu.
Offer from Mid tier firm - probably number 5 or 6 in the terms of size. - they're offering £2k less - but they pay overtime - so I'd have to work 2 hours overtime a week to earn back the £2k. I've been reliably told by a few guys I know that the hours are nearer the 9-5 than the 8-8 I generally work!
Dilema is do i stay where I am - I've only been in my current job for about 15months! Or do I take the chance and get some semblance of a life back?

I'd speak to current employer, address current concerns, if not what you want to hear leave.
ps i used to 100+ hours a week!

Get your life back, no point in wasting it at work

Make enough money to run your Elise, with the least number of hours to enable you to enjoy it.

It's not a competition!
But the current employers don't really give a sh1t! It's just expected that you work all the hours God sends - I left the office about half an hour ago and there were still a dozen or so working!

Yeah take advice from Ed, he has the life of reilly - 8.30am - 5pm - alright pay for puring tea and coffee, and lives minutes from work!!!!
Seriously though, it wouldnt happen to be a company called HL? PM if no idea!
My old man is Chairman of one of the top 5-7 firms in Scotland, used to be a partner in Ernst & Young.
He is certifiably dull as f*ck by his own admittance until he has a drink of wine and then the soul of the party - i think its the numbers and grey suits!!!!
Mate, go for it, being appreciated and having a life far outweigh 2k!

I guess it would be easier to work your way up in a smaller company, are the other benefits similar? You could always encourage the new company to up their offer?!
