A few of you know my wife and 18month old baby were involved in a crash on the 6th, both are fine and on the road to recovery, I just thank the lord for modern car safety technology.

The fire brigade took an hour and a half to cut them out as the car was on its side and my wifes foot was jammed under the pedals.

A word to any parents out there, the Baby seat we had in all honesty saved our wee un, and to think we hummed and hawed about saving £30 and going for a cheaper seat. You cant put a price on life!

Major thanks must go to the Fire Brigade, Ambulance and Police who really were fantastic, its restored my faith in them.

Weve managed to borrow a car while the insurance gets sorted out.

everythings slowly returning to normality and the silver lining is at least I get to go car hunting again!

Glad everyone recovering. I've literally just got back from the baby seat shop with a new one - and seeing that feeling glad that we went for top spec.

Just hoping that it doesn't get tested as well as yours has....

Scott, sorry to hear this but glad that everyone is OK - I wonder if the youngster will remember it all when older - probably not.

I had a bad crash when I was younger and though it took minutes to realise I wasn't injured, it took years to get over the fear of it happening again.

Looks like a tough car though - passenger compartment is in reasonably good shape considering the state of the front!

So glad everybody is OK and that all the safety equipment did its job.

Just got a load of Digital Photos printed so some from our visit will be on their way to you soon (soaking the poor kids with a hose)

Like everyone else Scott I am glad everyone is fine.

That really was a 'bad' morning for driving conditions. I had a slow motion sideways moment in the Toyota truck just outside Friockheim on black ice. Fortunately I just slid gently into the kerb.

Would agree with all the comments on car seats, its not something to skimp on. I just got the kids new Recaro ones from Demon Tweeks and used the old ones to give to grandparents etc when the new car seat laws came in.

The number of parents I heard moaning that they would have to buy car seats for their kids was unbelievable! You don't have to spend a fortune on the latest kit but something is better than nothing. Hopefully their conscious got the better of them and they bought good seats.

The car stood up well, going for the same one again?

The Recaro Start is a good seat, I have one for the Exige and Zoe (our 6 yr old) travels quite regularly in it (as a few on here will testify), but although its possible to adjust it to the correct size for the baby, I wouldnt put her in it now Ive seen how secure the three point systems are. Myself and Iain F had a few good runs, back in the day, with the kids, but im now starting to rethink taking them out in the Exige full stop.

Re new car, will just have to wait and see what the insurance offer us. Could do with a bit more space than we had in the Jazz, already had a new Civic out for a couple of hours but not convinced, I swear there is more rear leg room in the Jazz. Seriously considering an Imported Honda Element! I doubt anything will get sorted before New Year though.

My kids are 9 & 6 and fight over who gets a run in the Elise! The new Recaro seats are too big to fit in so I use the Maxi Cosi ones we had previously. It's the Rodi XP I think and is a great fit in the Lotus.

I was a bit reluctant to take the kids out a first but they love it. The Elise is a strong car with great side protection. I generally take it easy and stick to quieter roads when we're out.

We'll have to propose a junior SE'rs section with something like a parent & kid's run to Noah's Ark at Perth, always a family favourite! We're happy to get out in the car, wife is happy cause we're doing something with kid's and the kid's well they think it's Xmas!

Another thumbs up for the Recaro Start - bought them in time for the new laws - my two (8 & 5) are happy being in them "cos they're cool, Dad" - I suspect the integrated speakers for DVD/mp3/Nintendo DS lite help

I like them too because they match the tarty recaros in my Audi

Below is a photo of my old Recaro Start with optional extras to make a snugger/safer fit . Was a great seat and Skye loved it. She has turned 8 now and already well above the new seat belt law height limit.
