Prezzies you got that you'd recommend..

Post by GregR » Sun Dec 31, 2006 12:42 pm

Got a book called, "formula 1 fanatic" for Chrimbo from Alix, written by a dutchman called Koen Vergeer - I can't put it down! Its a translation of a 1999 book, so isn't exactly up to date but is fascinating nonetheless. It charts the progress of the sport from a fan's perspective from the early 70s and has some fascinating insights in it... I never knew the truth about the problems of the ground effect era and turbo cars untill brekkie this morning :)

All in all, thoroughly recommended (especially to those that enjoyed Perry McCarthy's book) :thumbsup

Greg - next on your reading list the two books by Prof Sid. Just make sure read them in the correct order.

Ordered both from Amazon today :D Finished the F1 fanatic book in record time (for me!), quickest book since Flat out Flat Broke. Tried to get Sid's from Waterstones but out of stock, so phoned to get them to order in but they wanted immediate payment :? Said I wanted to use a book token and they said I'd have to come in to order! Pfft said I.

On another note, managed to get the big bad F1 2006 annual (normally £25) for £9.99 the other day too 8)

Good lad - it's not the best written book in the world but is a real eye opener and humourous too.

The myway code book

...good for a light reading chuckle.
they have a section on lotus owners...
A car was the 1st proper relationship you ever really had. you would rather wax it at the weekend than cover your partner in baby oil. These vehicles are also popular with men who enjoy taking their sister's boyfriends out for a spin through country lanes at mach 12 - well, you've got to liven them up a bit haven't you?
