I dunnoe... my old BRM had a Torsen LSD (OK, it was FWD). That only had about 150bhp but you could feel the LSD pulling you round the corners at KH.

Nice price though.. £300.

Yup - torsen on a FWD car with a reasonable amount of poke. Totally different kettle of slippers on a RWD mid engined car.

Something with the lack of weight that the Elise has needs to have serious traction issues (remember better traction with RWD and the engine in the back) and therefore power, before the 'push' that an LSD creates is offset by the positive effect of spreading the torque between the rears.

9 times out of 10, setting the dampers up properly combats the power oversteer that could be "sorted" with an LSD, with none of the negative points 8)

Years ago my maw had a Rover "Tomcat" 220 Turbo Coupe - 200bhp thru some form of fancy diff...

..Full throttle in 2nd on anything other than billiard-smooth surfaces required a firm grip with both hands (yes Shug, on the steering wheel...  ), the thing was a fecking animal, always pulling to one side then the other as it scrabbled for grip

Best experience was putting the sh1ters up a 993 Carrera on the Dundee Perth dual carriageway all the way to an unprintable speed and I was close enough to still see his eyes looking at me thru his RV mirror in utter disbelief

Very quick car, but generally sh*t in all other respects
