Honda

Post by r10crw » Sun Feb 04, 2007 10:21 am

Just thought you guys would like to know that the install is finally finnished, still got little things to do but I can tell you that its bloody quick! Havent set up the rear toe yet so shes a little skiipy but she should be officially finnished next week. Got an exhaust from jim valentine lst week who really is a top man. Worked till 1.30 in the morning to finnish for me since the car was getting mapped the next morning. The manifold he made is completlt 2 inch with a four into one leading to the 3 inch system. Not sure but think this is the largest bore available for a honda? Anyway shes looks excelent and sounds bloody brilliant!! Cheers Craig.

When the car was at the rollers the guy took it up to 10000rpm, is this safe? I put a full post on seloc so if anyone wants to give their opinion please do. Cheers Craig

Probably not, anything over 9k is usually regarded as dangerous on standard internals.

Just been out with Craig to compare performance on our cars, but it is impossible to put power down in 2nd and 3rd gears, not helped with rear toe way out, and bald 48R's.

If it was me I would probably sue Japerformance, I know the guy, but it sounds as if he is behaving very irresponsibly, and that is being polite.

All he did was update the firmare on the K-Pro ECU, a free download, and put in a basic map. It seems that he did one R/R run, but will not give Craig the results, when pushed said maybe 210 flywheel hp. That is crap, but he wants it bought back to do a complete mapping session for megabucks, so sounds like a come on. For that he charged £430, and announced that he had run it upto 10,000RPM. This on a car that had just been re-built, had not run above 3,000, and was trailered down there.

Needless to say, it will not be going back there.

Jims exhaust system looks fantastic, especially against my weedy manifold. Starts at 2.25" then goes into 3", and the curves and welding are in a different league. When everything is in place, the final result should be something else.

Thanks guys looks like the engines ok, had it out today and shes running fine through the rev range. The low down torque is incredible but grip really is an issue. Probably the biggest thing is the noise of the supercharger it just screams. Im limited to 7 thou until i get her mapped properly so peak power is quite low just now. Powers not that great just now but should be sorted before too long. Going down to see wallace performance tomorrow and hae a chat about mapping cause shes not going back to the first guy!

I'd be tempted to take my time and head down to Dastek.

Glad to hear you have the engine up and running.

Revving to 10K  well that really goes to show what that guy knows about Honda's. completely irresponsible thing to do to a unmapped car and as a alleged "tuner" he should know better

Is that stock valves and springs as you get valve float about 9 - 9.5K. I would get a compression test done. Just to be sure he hasn't done any damage to the seats.

Also what was the AFR like, You should be able to get all the info from the ECU with a USB lead?

I do know that Gerry @ Dastek has mapped a few Hondata's.
