Edinburgh Newbie

Post by Erik » Wed Feb 14, 2007 11:07 am

Hi guys, finally joined up on here so thought i'd drop in and say a quick hello.

I'm Erik, i'm 25 and stay in Edinburgh. Got my hands on my Elise mid December after trading in my 172 Cup. Its a 99 S1 in Azure blue.

Mostly passionate about French cars, but loving the Elise.

Also got a Citroen AX Gti as a runabout for the times that it makes no sense to use the Elise (at least I will have when i get it on the road!!). Also part owner of a 205 Mi16 Track car - should be found at knockhill from March / April kinda time hopefully.

No doubt see some of you stoating about!

Cheers,
Erik

I was the guy that was standing blethering to Ian if you recall...

Nice choice of Liz, and indeed nice choice of fleet

I too have owned clio172 & a Liz. I thought the 172 was as much fun as I could have (for the budget) but the Liz brought new levels of fun

I found the 172 very un-reliable (bought new), and was wary getting the Liz, but it never let me down. How was your experience of the 172?

You'll find the Liz much more fuel efficient than the 172... for what that's worth!

Mine was a 53 plate cup, and I had it for about a year. Didnt have any major problems with it at all - only things worth noting were a leaking back shockie and a faulty accelerator pedal (both sorted under warranty). Other than that, the Clio was one of the best cars i've owned, i've sworn to myself that i'll have another one at some point. Great cars, and very under-rated..... but totally different experience to the Elise.

Previous purchases to that went along the lines of Saxo VTR (I was young at the time lol), 106 Gti, ZX (runabout 1.9D felly), 205 Mi16 (nightmare from day one), Imported Civic SiRII (with B18 from Integra 205bhp), 406 Coupe (3.0 V6) then the Clio..... dont think i'll ever get away from French cars lol!!

So, the elise is a bit "different" to anything i've been used to lol

The AX should keep the miles off the Elise and keep me at least mildly amused in doing so, and the 205 will allow me to resist the temptation of killing the Elise on track hehe!

Cheers for the welcomes! Ed, never been known to turn down a chance for beer, so thats a good shout! :D

Good to hear you had a decent Clio experience. I have toyed with the idea of buying a used early one, and developing for motorsport, as it was a lot of fun to drive.

Elise wont be killed on track. See trackdays / meets section for up & coming events, and pop along.
