Sprinting/ Hill Climbing Advice

Post by anthonyyule » Wed Mar 07, 2007 12:15 pm

Hiya,

Does anyone know what the requirements are for "Noise regulations" under the MSA for hill climbing and sprinting?
With a stage 2 exhaust/ pipercross viper fitted is there anything which i could do, if I fail the regs?

Secondly, does anyone know where I could buy one of those fins needed to cut the timing beam - and would the best place to fit it be where the front towing eye is?

Thanks for your help,

Tony

you'll be well under the noise limit. It's high.

Where are you hoping to compete? I'm secretary of Grampian Automobile Club (GAC) and we run Fintray hillclimb and Alford sprint. PM me if yo want and I can point you in the direction of the relevant folk. As said already, Lawrence is a good contact.

Static testing is 108 Db at 0.5 metres at 45% to the exhaust outlet, no drive by measurement here in Scotland yet. 108 Db is louder than you think.

As Paul has said Stu has already made a couple that fit the tow hoop bolt screw, If you want to make one then the size is 2 inch x 10 inches high, black timing strut, mounted vertically, and the bottom should be at 7 inches from the road.

Now then :)

So who is up for a Sprint or 2?

I'd like to see Dom try his hand at it for one, he could do really well :)

As usual I'll be pedalling my Green Hoyabusa Se7en to most of the hillclimbs and a few Sprints if we can have a TSE showing. I think we can have a lot of fun this year, I wonder if we could have Ali guest driving again just like the Autotest last Sunday ;)

i will do as many as possible. Have the winning race suit (thanks to Ali ) will be sending away for the race license 2mrw. need to speak nicely to Stu for the timing beam.

Will probably be in a silly class coz of the honda, but will do it for a laugh, and try to beat the existing elise times.

Lawrence

Have you heard that Graeme Bremner has bought a Turbo Technics Elise for this years Championships? I do not know the hp output, but I heard this from an outlet that is making an exhaust system for him.

As he would be in A8 and with no restriction from the 1.4 to 1 S/C penalty as engine size is unrestricted, I reckon he is going for the overall Sprint Championship Title.

If it is a 230hp engine, with his circuit knowledge and ability, he could easily manage it. Just needs to knock 2 sec off mine and Ali's records at the Sprint tracks. I would have been very close in 2005 if it had not been for the operation, despite losing the 50hp and being on Stunner Scudos.

Could you e-mail me the entrants list for 2007 please, it does not seem to be posted anywhere.

Cheers

Didn't know that they could be taken out

If your in the A8 clas you'll be up against myself in a VX220 and a couple of TR7 V8's maybe a Ginette or 2 and an old 911. I'm only doing the Highland speed championship.
Only doing Fintry, Boyndie, Lossiemouth and Alford. Golspie is just a bit too far to travel.

Neil will not be in A8 with the Honda engine.

After 2005 they changed the regs, I may be biased but I think it was to keep me out. He will now be in with the kit cars in A4.
