Global Warming - it's all a scam

Post by james » Thu Mar 08, 2007 11:59 pm

Just watched the C4 program. Here's the gist of it if you didn't see it.

1. CO2 makes up about 0.05% of all greenhouse gasses of which mankind produce a small minority (rotting leaves, volcanoes and oceans produce much more.)
2. CO2 levels rise AFTER global temperatures rise and fall AFTER temperatures fall (historical records show this.)
3. It's been much warmer in recent times than it is now with no ill effect (for example - Polar bears are still here.)
4. Historical data shows global temperatures relate to cloud formation - which in turn relate to solar cosmic rays - which are directly related to solar activity. They do not relate to CO2 levels (other than 2. above)

So why does the developed world persist with CO2 and global warming argument? To prevent the 3rd world from developing.

Makes perfect sense when you take it to conclusion like that.

So the green activists are wrong when they bang on about CO2 emissions - they are miniscule given the scale of natural CO2 emissions. And anyway - don’t affect the weather.

Get out there in the car and don’t worry about the emissions. Worry about the starving people in the 3rd world, living in mud huts with no electricity instead.

Just my thoughts.

Watched it and it's confirmed a lot of my suspicions that our contribution to GW is so tiny as to be insignificant. There are much greater forces at work.

But there are also great forces at work who have a vested interest in the continuation of the myth that us humans are responsible.

I kinda thought as much and it's good to hear some facts and statistics about it to back this up . . . however, did they say anything about the reduction in snow levels in European ski resorts over the past 10 years or so?

I don't know a lot about it, but experienced skiers I've spoken to on recent ski holidays in Switzerland and France say that there has definitely been a dramatic reduction in the amount of snowfall over the past 10 years or so. Just take a look at Scotland and the demise in snowsports due to lack of snow! Is this just coincidence? Or is it simply that these weather patterns just go in cycles? I'm basically confusled!! :scratch

Not sure if I believe in global warming or not. I do know that it has been absolutely beautiful in London the past two days and it was freezing when I got back to Scotland bbbrrrrrr

Totally agree. Can't help but laugh at the greenies now. Doom mongers the lot of them. Enjoy life now. As Louise pointed out to me, global warming is not going to get us, but some sort of super bug, at some point might... there are far worse things to worry about... IMHO

Very interesting to learn that climate change has more to do with the sun, than CO2 imissions, and that recent change is just the way nature goes.

Dezzy, they never said the earth wasn't getting warmer, or that there is less snow (in some areas) or that ice-caps aren't reducing, but the facts are that it is not man made CO2 that is causing these events, it's nature.

It has all happened before and no doubt will happen again. We are actually still coming out of a 'mini' ice-age and the temp is still below what it was in Roman times etc in the UK.

Another interesting bit was when they showed a report from the '70s, which had a similar intro to some of the ones you see on TV nowadays; freak weather, increased storms, droughts in some places etc, but they were then forcasting another ice-age and not 'global warming'

Brilliant programme, cant help notice how big a shower of sh*t the BBC is. Loved the poking of fun at rabid eco-mentalists spouting nonsense that just two minutes prior was proved to be utter tosh :D

I didn't see the program, so cannot comment on it, but I don't suppose it counts as "proof".

After all, tomorrow there could be another program on C4 giving you the opposite point of view,

e.g. that it's a non-linear process - adding 0.1% CO2 might make 5% difference to temperatures, and it's us that's adding the extra CO2 that is breaking the camel's back.

OR perhaps they could reveal that it's a conspiracy - the oil companies sponsor this type of program to make you all feel better about burning oil.

OR the governments know we're totally f*cked so they sponsor this type of propoganda to keep us all happy to avoid rioting - meanwhile they are building the Ark and government chosen people (i.e. them) will be leaving the planet whilst we're left here to die (wait a minute - I saw a program on that on telly just the other day).

Would that then count as proof that rabid eco-mentalists are right to be rabid?

Personally I side with Neil on this one though - our job is to adapt and make it work for us. It's pretty pointless worrying about how much fuel we burn, becuase for sure it will all get burnt sooner or later and market forces will dictate when the switch over to alternate energy sources makes sense at which point our oil burning will stop.

there was a program on tv not long ago that talked about the salt levels on the atlantic and med.

there were some poor dudes out in lebanon who found this crazy thing called salt.
they found they could store their goods in it and the goods wouldnt rot as quickly.
so, with good boats and excellent night time navigation, they sailed the med to a big island.
there, they harvested salt.
good times aplenty came - made nice profits.

thing is, the med didnt think this was a good idea.
the salt concentration in the sea dropped.
the currents changed.
weather got stormy.

things went wrong for years.

man can influence nature, and it tends to bite back when we do.

At the end of the program, all the boffins were asked what they would say if it was suggested they were on the payroll of the oil co's or any other interested parties, to which they all strongly denied it (for what it's worth). Some went as far to say that by standing up for what they scientiffically believe, they have stood out from the masses, and been subjected to considerable abuse.

As you say, 2 sides to every story, but that was very convincing last night... i'm convinced! TBH I have not been sure about all the global warming tosh for some time..IMHO
