Quote from Heritage - Includes Unlimited *Club* Trackdays

Post by Stewart » Thu Mar 15, 2007 8:44 pm

Due renewal middle of next month so thought I would start the annual shop around early.
Spent a bit of time last night researching companies who provide trackday cover. Only got around to completing one online request, which was with Heritage (0121 246 6067). As usual, it came up with "Not enough details, we will need to contact you". Forgot all about it today until a lad called Andrew phoned me at work to get a wee bit more info.

£485 per year.
Must be my second car.
£350 excess with £50 windscreen excess.
Only mod - 4 point harness - no additional premium, as long as disclosed
7,500 (but I could have asked for 10k)
Covers commuting to work (this was an addon at no extra cost)

Trackday Cover
These are unlimited, no need to advise them before doing the event.
BUT You must be a member of the club organising the event i.e. SIDC, SELOC, LOT, etc. Top Marque days are not covered.
There is an additional excess of £1,000 which means that you would have to pay the first £1,350 of any claim (I clarified this with him).

I am 37, have 7 years NCD and the car is garaged in KY15 (Fife). Car is a 1999 S1 135 Sport. The 135 Sport seems to attract an additional premium with most companies as they can never find it on their systems.

Obviously this is no use to you if this is your only car. I am sure I have also seen mentioned that they don't cover you if you are under 28 - but hey, you still have your youth :).
Last year I paid £439 with Bell. I'll see what their quote is and also try Competition Car Insurance (0115 941 5255, Option 4 - Steve Halham) and AON Esteem (01252 767 139, ask for Lotus Esteem contact).

Hope this info is off use to others

Damn good deal there Stewart! I was thinking of trying Heritage, but age and the fact that it's my only car might stop me getting a good deal. Will try them anyway when insurance due up in early June. I'm definitely after a company who include track days. I'd gladly pay double what you have if it'll include trackdays (I'm 27, only got 2 years NCD, parked on driveway, and do around 12k miles per year).

So Stewart, SIDC membership is around £30 and you have no excuse not to do the next track day :D

Heritage quoted me £640 for similar package ungaraged in a dodgy area and it's my only car. No commuting though. 28 and 5 years NCB.

I don't think they will quote if you are under 28 or have had the car for less than a year.

its def worth getting incorporated trackday cover if Insurance is what you want - you're looking at £110 one-off each time if you use 'stand-alone' trackday cover :)

Heritage quoted me about £580 I think... for me and Ryann ...

Looks like Aon could be getting a run for their money come renewal time!

Last night I filled in the online quotation form on AON. A guy left a message on my machine when I was on the phone this morning. I phoned straight back but he was on the phone so I spoke to a girl.
She was fairly efficient if a little robotic and didn't seem the least bit interested in me or the car, but went through the quote nonetheless.

£619.46
My details are as above. This policy included 5 pre-notified track days cover with a minimum £1,500 excess (or 10% of car value). This is an unlimited mileage policy with Royal Sun Alliance. The "normal" driving excess was £500.

I didn't get into whether they had to be club days or indeed car mods as she was reeling of details so quickly in a Brummie accent, I found her a bit hard to follow.

The number I rung back wasn't the one quoted above, so I perhaps got the wrong office. I may give the "Esteem" contact a ring just to check.

Really just CCI to try. Still awaiting the renewal quotation from Bell.
