Newbie seeking advice
Just checked the rears this morning and there is less tread left than I thought (definitely down to the last mm). I take on board the advice that wear might not be as much as I think but would rather just play it safe and have them changed prior to the drive home. Having said that I am now thinking of leaving the fronts as they are for the time being which from reading your advice to other people on the site would mean sticking to the bridgestones.
Robin thanks for the tip regarding softening the nitrons. Unfortunately I am the most untechnically minded person you are ever likely to meet and therefore have no idea how to do that – infact I have no idea what the present settings are.
Simon – I thought I might take a slagging for this one but the car has done almost 14k miles now on the original tyres of which I have accounted for about 2.5k. I wont even attempt the excuse about living and working in the centre of Edinbrugh not being conducive and simply admit that you boys have a miss daisy in your ranks!!

Welcome Gary, on the front tyres have you checked the inside tread depth? When I had Bridgestones the front ones wore much more on the inide edge than the rest of the tyre, I was in a similar situation to you and was considering just changing the rears, but on closer checking I found the fronts very worn on the inside, it was just not very visible. I know others have had the same happen with Bridgestones, no problems so far the the Yoko's, yet.ecogms wrote: I am now thinking of leaving the fronts as they are for the time being which from reading your advice to other people on the site would mean sticking to the bridgestones.

Welcome -
I'd give Walshy or Emma a call and see whatt hey recommend for tyre replacement or have a word with Ed's guys.
I'd recommend getting the arrangements in place, as Walshy may well have left your tyres in tatters, and you don't want to risk the drive home and the points you could earn.
Enjoy it though, an epic day out usually

Now have arrangements in place with Event Tyres. Have booked them to change the rears only but following Johns advice will make sure I have a good look at the fronts tonight and add those to the order if needs be.
For reference/information, Event Tyres were unwilling to fit tyres that were not supplied by themselves so I am sticking to the Bridgestones. I would post the price quoted but left the info in the house this morning. Will post at a future date should anyone be interested.
Thanks for all the advice.
