Hi Mags,

This is the nearest travel lodge: http://www.travelodge.co.uk/find_a_hote ... Sedgefield

Only £15 for the night, but don't think it has a bar. It's about 12 miles away.

The next nearest is this one: http://www.travelodge.co.uk/find_a_hote ... 204/Durham

Also £15 a night but I think it does have a bar. It's about 30 miles drive from the track though.

There are other hotels nearer the track, but they're about £50 a night or more. I'd rather be further away and get a cheap £15 room though.

Once Paul confirms receipt of the cheque tomorrow, we can decide which one to go for and book up. It's best not to do any more searches on the Travel Lodge website yet though, as the more searches there are for those hotels on that night, the higher the price will be.

Cheers,
D

Update:

I actually just called the top Travel Lodge in my post above. They definitely don't have a bar or restaurant, but they said there are bars/restaurants in the nearby village of Sedgefield. She says it's about 5 - 10 minutes walk to get to them. For £15 a night, I'm happy with a 10 minute walk to find the nearest pub!

Only downside is obviously no restaurant for brekkie in the morning, but I'm happy to stop at a petrol station on the way and get a sandwich or something.

What do you think?

Cheers Ross. That looks like a much better place to stay, but it's £58 per room, rather than the £15 at the Travel Lodge. [/pikey faction] However, if folk don't mind sharing rooms, then it works out pretty cheap. I'm happy to share as long as my room-mate doesn't mind the fact that I snore! :tired

No offence, but some of you guys could be on a register, or something (as could I!) so I'll travel further, to ensure I get a room of my own.

Nice one Paul. :thumbsup

Right folks, what are we doing about a hotel then? Travel Lodge with no bar 12 miles from track or Holiday Inn Express with bar 1 mile from track? Don't want to end up in a different hotel from everyone else, so will wait til I hear what other people want to do before booking.

Don't mind either way - is there a bar near the travel lodge?
