Picked up an Elise today.....*mega update! almost finished*
OK so after a blast through to the burgh and back on some wet roads, a couple of things are needing done sooner rather than later, the most notable being tyres.
I dont want to replace the 4 bridgestones that are on the car and I think I am right in saying I cant put 48s / r888s on the rims I have, so bottom line is I need new rims. Ideas?
Also, the rear shockers that I knew were gubbed are mildly dangerous in the wet as it makes the rear so skittish. Think this could be solved thanks to MacK...
This weekend sees me furthering my mechanical ability by servicing it and trying to get my S2 Exige induction kit to fit

Jj - leave the induction kit off - the car really doesn't need one!
You can fit 48s/888s to the standard rims, but the fronts are a squeeze and some wouldn't be comfortable with it.
The obvious choice is the Oz rims as fitted to the 135R and presumably the Sport190.
R888s are really good in the wet too
Cheers,
Robin

So, since the first post on this thread the day I got it up the road, I have been on a bit of a spending / fixing spree! Thought I would post it all up as I am sure it might be of interest to some people.
As mentioned earlier the suspension was shot. So after a bit of dismantling and a trip to MMC I had some shiny new dampers. Dismantled the undertray at the rear, got the car up on axle stands and started setting about improving my DIY skills.
Learning how to do stuff I hadnt done before was probably the most enjoyable part of this, reading up, giving it a bash and it working out.
Things replaced so far in no order;
Wiper washer motor - old was dead, eBay yielded a new one for 99p.
4 new T1-Rs and powdercoated the std alloys
4 new A048s with Compomotive wheels- total impulse buy
New dampers, Bilstein kit.
Powdercoat undertray
Exige discs (thanks kenny)
Pagid RS42s (thanks kenny and ed)
Lots of rusty bits cleaned / hammerited
Oil and filter change
Airfilter replaced
Gearlinkage upgrade bushes
Janspeed roadsport exhaust and decat
Full geo / alignment at Kenny Browns in Hillington (made biggest diffrnce)
new smaller front plate
Front Splitter from guy on SELOC (left black for exige look
)
HID kit fitted from exige (need to align though as its squinty)
Eliseparts wheelnuts
hoovered inside, not washed outside yet.
So been quiter busy. I think all I need to do now is drive it for the summer and see what breaks, hopefully nothing.... (touches wood).
some snaps, didnt take many "during" shots and wish I had now.....

During the cleaning off of 73k of road grime and leaks from dampers....

Finished....... for now
