Bye bye Tango...hello Toxic Frog

Post by Gareth » Sat May 26, 2007 12:53 am

After a very long day, I'm finally home with my new toy...Caterham SLR
Big thanks to Thinfourth for coming with me. Flight to Birmingham and a very long drive home sitting in bank holiday traffic. Left just south of Birmingham at 1.30 and that's me just at 12.45am! :x I think I've almost passed the Caterham test...rain and cold night driving. It also attract a little attenton with people stopping on the motorway to speak to you. At one point in traffic folk from the other side of the motorway were speaking to us. Wonder if we will be on youtube with the amount of folk taking video footage...hello to the hot bird in the R32 if you're reading! :D :D

I know nothing of Caterhams so a few of the SE'rs kept me right (Thinny, Ross and Dave L; thanks to those guys. You've had to put up with a few emails :p )

Well the car.....AMAZING!
Pops bangs...spits flames and is pretty quick off the mark :D :D
A complete different animal from the Exige. Being on track is going to be a whole new ball game. It's been pretty pampered...10K miles since new and 1K miles in 3 years!!

Never thought I would ever buy a 7 but don't knock it until you've tried it. I was hooked after a 3hr autotest! Once that happened, the Evo or Scooby idea was out the window and the decision for a Caterham and Shed was made.

Tillet seats next and maybe aeroscreen.

The SLR also known as the Superlight R

One VHPD K series about 190Bhp
1 4-2-1 exhaust system
1 dry sump system
1 very close 6 spd gearbox
1 LSD diff
1 big brake pack (still bloody tiny)
loads of carbon fibre
4 magnesium wheels
2 bloody annoyingly bad wing mirrors ( new highcode caterham edition. Mirror, discover mirror has moved, stick arm outside car, adjust mirror, signal, manoeuvre)
race spec suspension with the widetrack kit with adjustable most things
1 broken light switch
2 annoying floor mats 1 of which has been banished to the boot
1 handbrake handle cover that drops off constantly
1 oh my god my eyes hurt neon yellow paint job
1 smiling like an idiot owner

all weighing less 500kg so giving not far short of 400Bhp/ton
