Ayrshire Triangle claims another victim
Bad luck matey.
Sadly, if the crash structure is involved, it'll be a big repair, so to go against the advice of my peers, do involve the insurance.
You'll need the structure cut off and a new one bonded on (it can't be repaired unless it's the smallest of damage) Not cheap
If it was just a clam, you could get it done for less than your excess.

not got any advice but would just like to say i am glad that you are both ok!
i had an almost similar incident when i had just passed my driving test and was flying along a country road and met a tractor plus trailer coming the other way! eeek....chose the 'verge option' too but thankfully no ditch so only lost a hub cap...
anyway...well... nothing really, just make sure there is no hidden damage to the structure of the car!
best wishes, fraser.
