Losing your touch gentlemen...

My mate has a small plate on his ITR....he got a £30 fine for it and when they checked his tyres he got £60 + 3 points for a dodgy tyre (tracking was out!)......is it worth the attention/reason to get pulled?DavieM wrote:hi

yup the Elise is so wee the cut-down plate definitely sits in better context...you'd almost expect plod to pull the boys with the std plates..."Excuse me sir but your numberplate is obscuring your tax disc!"meatball wrote:My mate has a small plate on his ITR....he got a £30 fine for it and when they checked his tyres he got £60 + 3 points for a dodgy tyre (tracking was out!)......is it worth the attention/reason to get pulled?DavieM wrote:hi

I was 22 when I bought my Chrome Orange Elise. I KNEW I'd be a magnet for every pikey shouting abuse, every anti-car leftie, every copper looking to boost his monthly figure. So I did everything by the book - standard plate, avoiding driving through the town centre, using the hack to go to the shops (fear of getting it keyed, dinged etc). It was my only car for a time too but, somehow, I avoided trouble.j33ama wrote: Its all fair and well saying you think the police have better things to do than chase me around , but you cant posibly comment on that unless you are in my position. 23yr old (who prob looks about 20) driving an bright orange , loud , high performance sports car as a daily driver. It may be quite hard to believe that the boys in blue , who keep society in order n all , are wasting there time on me but it aint for me , I know whats going on .
Just to recap , I had been stopped no less than 5 times prior to the pull for the reg plate . The car has been on the road less than 4 months.

My old hillclimb car looked pikey, had a numberplate (full size) on the bonnet as there was no-where on the vertical face to mount it and had a rally exhaust fed by twin Weber 45s. It was fully liveried and was was 19. Was pulled once as I was told "we couldn't see your plate". They scoured the car, checked everything then decided 'all was in order' so off I went. They knew everything was above board so I was left alone. They could've pulled me everyday but knew they'd never find anything amiss so didn't bother.
Your car was/is not above board, hence you've been pulled.
As others have said, the issue is with a part of your car which is illegal. Therefore, rectify that problem, move on.
