Geo / Alignment - Glasgow?
Re: Geo / Alignment - Glasgow?
Managed to get along to Pro Grip today, geo wasn't too badly out. Rear toe and thrust angles were the worst. Car feels much more stable now and no longer tramlines like buggery.

Did you just go with manual settings kenny ? John's hoping to squeeze me in this Saturday morning. He mentioned that for many models he does (Scooby's/evo's)there is an acknowledged fast/road track set up but said he didn't have such a thing for elises or exiges.

Re: Geo / Alignment - Glasgow?
I asked the question on here what settings would be better and the general consensus was that factory setting were fine, all you would do by changing it is kill your tyres more quickly.
When chatting with John he was of a similar opinion, more camber and agressive settings could be used for the ultimate lap time but would more than likely make the car very twitchy on the road. Its a sports car afterall all so Lotus have given it a decent optimum set up for the road and track. I would stick with factory settings.

Looking like I won't be there tomorrow Ross. John said on Wednesday he had to check with a guy if he was still coming as he thought he was doubtful. If not, I could take his place and he would give me a call. Haven't heard, although might double check in the morning. Maybe that guy was you ?!

Missed you by 2 minutes Ross. In fact seen you heading away in your S1 down the road just as I arrived, presumably after dropping the Vectra off. Hope all went well. When speaking to John he thought you might have timing belt issues
Couldn't squeeze me in unfortunatley so I'll be back at a later date.

Re: Geo / Alignment - Glasgow?
yeah he said that as i picked up the vectra again
- this time in Ali's car...
he said it sounded like the belt was too tight??
Anyway, got the vectra back and it feels pretty good - actually I cant believe how much a difference it has made. I just assumed it handled awfully because I had been driving my elise now and again!
really need to get my elise in there for a re-allignment once i manage to get both though MOT, tax and tyre purchases this month and have some spare cash!
thats a real shame i missed you sir!

Re: Geo / Alignment - Glasgow?
forgive my ignorance but I only really understand a "geo" as basically setting up few bits and bobs to improve the cars handling/feel?
Anyways it all sounds good and cheap
so it is somthing I should have done ? My car is 55 plate, just done 12k miles.
however , I have noticed recently (ever since changing my rear tyres) that i seem to have a slight wobble at the steering wheel at higher speeds, although it is so small that I am unsure if its simply the bumps in the road. Would a geo help this or is it simply that the wheel isnt balanced right ?
So is it worth my while considering how cheap it is or more for track orientated cars ?

A "geo" is alligning the wheels in the "correct" direction you adjust the Camber, Castor and Toej33ama wrote:forgive my ignorance but I only really understand a "geo" as basically setting up few bits and bobs to improve the cars handling/feel?
explained better here
and here
you can go down the route of setting it up for the track and to your own preference, but that will take alot of time pracctice etc etc etc. and it will be crap on the road. anyway lotus spent alot of time/effort/money getting it to handle the way it does.
