Good to catch up with a few regulars today and some new faces. Wasn't taking part but Dezzy kindly took me out for a couple of laps. Impressive stuff and a great new exhaust - worth 2 secs a lap :D .

Only bad thing was the 3 hour trip to get there (100 miles). One hour spent sitting in the new M9 spur just after the FRB  Plus side was a nice drive back up the Strathaven (?) road for the first time.

I did have my camera but only tool 12 pics, 9 of which were crap  . Here are the 3 keepers. (As there are only three I'll not bother posting in the Gallery.)

Great day today :thumbsup

Thanks to woody for the shot of his car, very nice, even if I couldn't do it justice! First Elise I've ever driven too! Also the first non-servo assisted brakes I've experienced since my old D reg Polo, not sure that would have been quite so quick round Kames though

Thanks also to everyone for the passenger laps, always nice to see things from the other side for a change. Thought the track newbies did very well despite the slippery conditions, I think the bug might have bitten now though

Looking forward to the next one already :D

:D
Well I had a great day, Im glad I finally got the car out on track and have def learnt a few new things about it.

Big thanks to Andy for taking me round and showing me the lines and braking points etc, it really helped my confidence, and a pax in the atom is always going to go down well :D oh and cheers for the loan of the helmet all day too.

Also big thanks to everybody that took me out as a pax so I could watch and those that sat in me car with me and offered advice, by the end of the day I think I was actually starting to get a little faster and sort of smooth and the rain didnt even bother me too much either.

My mate Megan, also says ta to everyone that took her out, despite being cold she actually really enjoyed her day and even suggested she might come again.

The only other thing I can say is roll on knockhill on the 1st July becuase Im really looking forward to it now.

Thanks Woody Had a fantastic day :D :D even if it was pi$$ing it down at the end of the day
Which ment I had the last 40mins or so to myself couple of wee moments when in the wrong gear for the corners & spun it once then, but kept the wheels on track. All on 27 Liters of fuel inc the run down ~so I'm obviously not pushing as hard as some of you more experianced girls and guys yet

Thanks to Andy G and Jamie for letting me tag along on the run down from the Bourgh hope I didnt hold you up too much :cheers

Great day at Kames yet again. Thanks for the organisation Woody :thumbsup

Really happy with how I got on - feel like I'm learning a lot about the car and my own driving at Kames and getting to know the track well. Did a bit of experimenting with 1st gear vs. 2nd gear for the hairpin. Think I'll stick with 2nd. Still understeering round the hairpin quite a bit (a few over the kerb onto the grass moments! ) but I think I'm just simply trying to do it too fast, so need to dial the steering out a bit and keep the right foot a bit lighter! :D

The left foot braking (which I was trying for the first time today) really helped with the left hander at the top of the hill leading back towards the carpark.

Thanks to Martin, Jamie, Jon and Heather for the pax laps :thumbsup Learned a lot by going out with others. And thanks to those who came out with me and gave some tips! Really helped!

Favourite moment of the day was Heather's sideways action, and how well she caught it! 8)

Well done to all the newbies! Some great confidence there and you couldn't even tell you were newbies after a run or two! :thumbsup

Roll on KH on Saturday!

Had another good day at Kames yesterday, and at least the worst of the weather held off to the very end. Just in time for the Jon, shug, DDtb and me to head back to mine; the long way round. Roofs, windscreens and doors have their upsides :damnfunny

Cheers to those who gave me a drive in their cars. :thumbsup I'm slowly warming top the dark side; Kevin's 135R always impresses. Can't remember who was paxing, but I had an interesting moment trying to keep Jamie's (digital) exige on cam through the chicane section at the back.

Top marks to Andy and Jamie in the SC 135R for effort

Glad everyone seemed to enjoy the day, esp Morven, Stuart and the other first timers. :thumbsup

a great day out and big thanks to Woody for oragnising, MAss for lending me the data logger, and Jamie being so chilled about me parking in the gravel  . First time in a long time, I've gone off and not expected it.....but actually think it was down to me being a c*ck. The difference between the S2 and the Atom meaning I simply didn't appreciated how much speed we were carrying in to the corner, and I didn't come back. Felt understeery through the previous 2 corners, and made it through, but not the 3rd. Nothing worse than doing it in someone elses car either! What a muppet! Sorry JAmie, but I'll get some black gaffer for the gaffer replacement damage :thumbsup (p.s. where were you going afterwards when i saw you heading back??)

Anyway, got out again in JAmies after that with Woody paxing, and things were getting better and better, although probably not for JAmies car. Setting it up for some of the corner required much more deliberate actions than the Atom.

Mass's datalogger provided me with a new aim - to break my lateral (cornering) g force record. 2.23 G was the most managed, which was amusing, and the other amusing fact I saw was 30-50 in 1.1 second! Top speed was 97.8 mph! And thats a corrected GPS figure!

THink I may have done a bearing, not hugely suprising, but will get the car checked before SIDC on Saturday.

Well done to Morvy for losing her track cherry, and pleased it went so well.

Great to catch up with everyone

I must say I had loads of fun in my car first time out on proper tyres and the Atom. As Andy said you need to manage the weight of the elise setting the car up allowing the tyres to load then steer the car with the throttle great fun. As was wheel spin in 1st 2nd 3rd on 48s! The Atom is just a different animal no inertia fantastic in the corners and under acceleration tricky under braking. You def get away with a bit more rear bias on the brakes. You could really feel the front end slide a bit then the back would follow then it would just turn. Such a overload on the senses. I was taking easy as I didn't think Andy would be too pleased if I brought it back on three wheels or something!
Atom would get my vote for a garaged weekend beast.
many thanks again Andy :thumbsup
