Thx to all for the welcome.

I've been busy fitting the ebc ultimax disc/yellow pad/goodridge brake combo, I must say its an improvement on what I had but not the bite I had been hoping for. As expected the brakes take the first application to warm and then response is better. I was trying to justify a big disc 4 pot conversion but couldn't...are the pagid pads REALLY worth the money? has anyone ditched the yellow stuff in favour of pagids and can heartedly comment? SHould I have gone for ally bells and 4 pots......

Padgids are better, but I'll bet your issue with bite is more to do with the fact that the car doesn't have a brake servo. It's the one thing that drives me mental hopping between mine (S1) and Elaine's (111R) - I always end up over-braking in Elaine's and cursing away, much prefer mine.

The brakes actually have plenty of power and the fact that you have to lean on them a bit harder means you can modulate them more easily. Also, how many miles have you done? - you may not have worn off the bed-in layer yet, which isn't as good as the actual pad material.
