"...Aberdeen City Council urged drivers to treat gritters like emergency vehicles and let them through the traffic."

Is that a joke?
Cheers,

Guys, I presume the central belt is a mess? I have to make a journey from Aberdeenshire to Newton Stewart between now and Thursday...

They have not even put a snowplough out on the dual carriageway from Ellon, everybody is crawling along the inside lane, outside lane is virgin snow with no cars on it. I am sure it is drivable at a steady speed but nobody is chancing it.

I take it that lukes test was Urgent.

Why are people taking the chance?

Not urgent, but he can not take his driving test which he is ready for without it, and we have already had to cancel once.

Ian had gone in ahead of them, and though it took longer than usual, he got through OK.

Just do that everyday then :-) If it's 20 minutes walk in the snow it's 15 on normal days ...

We're off to London sometime between now and xmas day - haven't decided when to go yet, but current favourite is Friday morning :-)

Have done a lot of long distance driving on Christmas Day in the past...dreamland, roads are literally almost deserted. Good call! At least you are not trying to fly anywhere. Or take Eurostar. Or services out of Glasgow Central...all for 2-3 inches of snow, eh.

Took the Panda to work early this morning (roads very quiet at 7am...). Slippy (about 5 inches of new snow overnight), but nothing the SnowTracs couldn't cope with - great fun.

Stupidly stayed at work while it continued to snow like crazy - then a tannoy at work "invites" us to go home......

Took two hours to get 4 miles across town

Then went food shopping in the Passat with it's Wintrac Extremes (235/40-17 M&S  ) - Nae Probs

So far, the winter tyre investment has paid off :cheers

thanks. thinking of skipping chrimbo travel. Aberdeen ---> SW Coast is normally 5hours, I am fearing double that and not a lot of fun inbetween!
